A goal on half time from left back Stopira gave Vidi a vital 1-0 win and progression into the play off's of the Europa League.
French side Bordeaux went into the second leg at the Pancho Arena in Felcsut leading 2-1 from the first leg. There was a surprise to the starting line up with Danko Lazovic taking his place on the bench to allow both Patkai and Varga to play in the heart of midfield.
It was Videoton that began much brighter taking the game to their French opponents from kick off. The supporters had to wait just half a minute for the first chance. That fell to Scepovic who shot just wide from 16 meters. Henty then broke into the box a minute later and the French captain made a good tackle to take the ball away from the recent new signing. With 4 minutes on the clock, Scepovic ran at goal and aimed for the bottom left corner, but keeper Costil pulled off a fine save.
Bordeaux were not ready for that start and took time to get back into the game. The first 5 minutes passed off without a goal but Vidi looking comfortable on the ball. Laborde curled a ball on 24 minutes into the safe hands of Kovacsik. Henty tried from 30 meters out but Costil was well positioned to deal with it. Sankhare took the ball to the goal line before crossing into the middle for Malcom at the far post, but he missed the target with virtually an open goal to aim for.
The remaining minutes of the first half saw a long distance strike from Szolnoki and the vital breakthrough that came deep into stoppage time. Stopira headed a corner into the back of the net to make it 1-0. There wa hardly enough time to celebrate before the German referee blew for half time.
Scepovic was forced to come off at the break and was replaced by Lazovic. A foul on Suljic resulted in a second yellow card for Bordeaux's Sabaly. That saw the visitors reduced to ten men. Lazovic allowed the ball to go passed him and into the path of Henty, who shot across goal but the ball did not find the back of the net.
The visitors became more active in the minutes that followed and it was Vidi that could have extended their lead after 67 minutes: A ball forward was controlled by Henty, and he went past the defender and had a one on one with the keeper, but Costil produced a great stop to turn the ball round for a corner. That could have been 2-0 but within a minute Videoton were also reduced to 10 men with Varga picking up his second yellow booking.
Bordeaux tried to push forward but could not create a serious chance on Kovacsik's goal. Their best effort was a free kick from Toure that Kovacsik saved well in the 83rd minute. Vidi also had a chance with Lazovic shooting from distance in the 86th minute. The referee added 7 minutes of stoppage time but the team held out to produce a memorable evening and a 1-0 win that is enough to take Videoton through to the play off's.
