Videoton and Haladas drew 1-1 on Wednesday evening, but it is the red and blues that progress to the next round after winning 2-1 on aggregate.
Videoton secured their place in the final eight of the Hungarian cup after beating Haladas 2-1 over two legs. It was Haladas that started off the better of the two sides. Medgyes found himself with a chance for the visitors after 6 minutes, but Danilovics produced a good save to deny him. A free kick from 25 meters out after 9 minutes saw Danilovics again called in to action. There was 15 minutes on the clock when Vidi had their first chance on the visiting goal. Gyurcso's corner was headed at goal by Juhasz from 8 meters, which ended with Rozsa saving well.
Haladas went forward after 25 minutes with Schimmer playing Medgyes in on goal. He shot straight at Danilovics, who was again well placed to ease the danger. Martinez then broke in to the area and again tested the Vidi keeper, who came out on top yet again.
Ferenc Horvath made a double change at half time. Simon and Suljic were replaced by Poloskei and Oliveira. The second period saw more chances and more attractive football being played than was the case in the first 45 minutes. The 51st minute saw Patkai find himself with a big chance in front of goal, but Rozsa saved his effort to keep the score at goaless. Heffler did well three minutes later when he shot just wide of the post from 18 meters out.
Vidi went ahead in the match on 58 minutes. Feczesin controlled the ball well and went past the defender, before shooting low from 14 meters out to make it 1-0. The home side did not have too long to celebrate as Haladas quickly found a way back in to the match. A free kick ended with Ugrai on the ball and finding the back of the net from close range 1-1. That made it 2-1 on aggregate to the red and blues, and a further goal for the visitors would have seen them go through on the away goals rule. Feczesin tried his luck with a shot from 18 meters on 64 minutes. The ball curled towards the bottom left corner, but Rozsa reacted very well to make a good save. Patkai saw his close range header punched out by Rozsa in what was a very big chance to make the game safe. The visitors tried hard to push forward and find that all important goal, but they could not get through the home defence.
The referee blew for full time and Videoton made it through to the final 8 with a 2-1 aggregate win, thanks to their 1-0 win away in Szombathely in the first leg. FTC, Bekescsaba, Kozarmisleny, Ujpest, Debrecen, Tiszaujvaros and Nyiregyhaza await Videoton in the next round.
