Videoton produced a very confident and convincing performance at the Bozsik stadium on Sunday evening. It was manager José Gomes' first league game in charge of Vidi, and the attacking display impressed the vast majority of the crowd. It was also a historical day for the club, with Videoton playing their first ever first division match, exactly 45 years ago to the day. That was also in Budpaest against Vasas, on the 3rd March 1968, but in that match Vasas emerged 6-1 winners! Today's game was very much different, which pleased the noisy away following, who numbered over 300, which had made the journey from Fehervar on a cold March evening.

The game began at a good pace with chances infront of both goals. The first two efforts fell to the home side, with Italian forward Lanzafame twice failing to hit the back of Bozsovic' net. Vidi also showed that they meant business by also having two chances. Oliveira showed good skill to trick the defender, before bringing down the Portuguese midfielder inside the box, but the match official did not give a penalty. Nikolics then found himself in front of goal, but it needed a good save from keeper Kemenes to stop Niko from finding the back of the net.

The 26th minute saw Mitrovics find Kovacs with a pass, and the young player hit a strong shot, that saw Kemenes do well to save from in the Honved goal. Kemenes could do nothing a minute later, following a corner which landed at the feet of Mitrovics, who was inside the box, and he cleverly curled the ball home from 15 meters to give Vidi the lead. Videoton doubled their lead on 31 minutes, with Nikolics setting up Oliveira, who hit a sweet and powerful shot into the far corner of the net. The goals continued to arrive for the men from Fehervar. Oliveira played a part in setting up young Kovacs, who hit a magnificent and unstoppable shot into the top corner of the net on 37 minutes. That goal put the game beyond the reach of Honved, and the great goal will be a real contender for goal of the season.

Honved manager Marco Rossi made two changes at the break, but it failed to change the outcome of the match. The home side pushed their defenders forward, which limited the chances that came Vidi's way. However, Bozsovics was also rarely tested in the Vidi goal, and when he was called upon, he saved confidently to keep a clean sheet. The only goal of the second half arrived on 75 minutes, with Mitrovics scoring his second and Vidi's fourth of the evening, with a lovely solo effort. José Gomes' first league game in charge proved a successful affair at a stadium, which had brought little joy to Vidi in the past.
