Nikolov and Huszti scored the goals for Vidi that earned a point on Sunday evening.
The big autumn fixture took place at the Groupama Arena on Sunday evening. League leaders Ferencvaros, who have played two more games than Vidi, were the opponents. The stadium was near to full, which produced a good atmosphere. Stopira, Hadzic and Scepovic did not make the starting line up.
The two sides started the game carefully with no real chance being created in front of either goal for the opening 10 minutes. That meant that Ferencvaros surprisingly took the lead after 14 minutes when Petryak went down the left wing, and his ball into the middle evaded both Vinicius and Lanzafame, but Spirovsky was waiting a the far post to shoot beyond Kovacsik (1-0). Home keeper Dibusz then saved from a Juhasz header minutes later. The match was 30 minutes old went Tamas went down the left and crossed just beyond the head of Nego, with Patkai arriving to head just wide of the target.
FTC increased their lead after 35 minutes. Tamas flicked the ball out following a corner, which Lovrencsics smashed low and powerfully from distance into the left corner of the net (2-0). Vidi came back into the game on half time. A move involving Huszti, Lazovic and Tamas ended with a ball in from the left back, which Fiola collected and played it once again into the middle, which Lazovic brought down and passed it back to Nikolov, who from 18 meters volleyed it home to make it 2-1. It was a lovely goal from the Macedonian midfielder.
The second half started with a big chance for Vidi with Nego crossing from the right, which Lazovic just headed over from 5 meters. The second period followed the pattern of the first with few chances in the opening minutes. Petryak controlled a ball around the edge of the box, which ended with Vinicius blocking the shot, but the ball fell to the same player and his second shot was also blocked, this time by Juhasz. There was time for yet another shot, which again was stopped by the Vidi captain. Nego had a chance at the other end after 70 minutes, but his shot went wide of the goal.
With 15 minutes remaining of an exciting game, Huszti stood behind a free kick 35 meters out. His shot at goal deflected off a defender and went beyond the outstretched Dibusz to make it 2-2.
Both sides battled for the win in the remaining minutes but there was no further goal. That means that Vidi came away from the Groupama Arena with a point. There now follows an international break and the next game will be on the 15th September against Puskas Academy in Felcsut.
