Videoton travel to third in the table Debrecen at the weekend

Marko Nikolic takes his side east on Saturday in search of three league points.

Videoton play their second league game of the season at the Nagyerdei stadium on Saturday. They earlier beat DVTK, who are ground sharing and now visit DVSC. The game will kick off at 19:30pm against an opponent who have improved and playing in a different form to earlier in August.

Loki, as they are also known, did not start the season well and suffered defeats to both Mezokovesd and Haladas. There were a couple of drawn games that followed as they stumbled. Vidi proved too hard with a very late goal giving the Fehervar side the points.

They sat in a relegation place on the 18th August with just two points. Things changed at the club from then on: They went on to remain unbeaten until match 15 of the season. There were wins over Vasas, Honved, DVTK, Balmazujvaros, Puskas Academy, Mezokovesd and Paks. That run came to an end with a 2-1 defeat to FTC. That has put Debrecen in third place and 7 points behind top of the table Videoton.

When the two sides last met, top goalscorer in season 2016-17 was David Holman, but he has since moved to Slovan Bratislava. Also leaving the club was Ognjen Djelmic, Derick Chuka Ogbu and Daniel Volgyi. Arrivals included Adam Bodi from Videoton on loan.

The transfermarkt.de values their side as the 6th most valuable in the Hungarian league. Daniel Tozser is the most valuable from the current squad. He is the top goalscorer with 5 goals to his name.
