The two managers shared their thoughts shortly after the final whistle.
Marko Nikolic:
"I am pleased that we beat an in form and well organised Debrecen. They are a good side and Andras Heczeg deserves credit for his work, but we still managed to score 5 goals and also missed three 100% chances. I would like to congratulate my players for the performance, but we must not deal with this as the game is over. Now we have to look forward to next weeks league game with Paks. The team has more points now than they did last year going into the winter break. However, FTC are also doing well and have the same amount of points as we do. It is now an interesting contest for the first place. There was an important message in today's game and that is that football is an individual sport and not like tennis. It is a team sport and although we had four important players missing, the lads together were tactically disciplined and played that way. The supporters saw a very good game from us. The other thing that comes to mind over today's 90 minutes is the performance of Krisztian Geresi. He started the season well, but then fell back a bit mentally. He has now been given more game time over the last month and started the game today. He missed a big chance today, but worked really hard out there on the pitch. He deserved the goal that he scored. We also had the performance of 3 goal Scepovic, Loic Nego and Roland Juhasz also played well. Adam Kovacsik made important saves and I could end up naming the entire team. Only one thing upset me and that was the goal we let in at the end. We must not allow our concentration to switch off for a second. This was a situation that we could have avoided. I worked at a team that won the league last season and I know that a goal can end up deciding things at the end of the season. We need to concentrate on these situations."
András Herczeg:
"We saw an interesting game. It is not typical of us to concede any goals in a game. You tend to see games differently from the bench than the people in the stands. I felt that we played well until we conceded the third goal. The start of the game saw chances at both ends. It is true that we had to chase the game. We were in the game until the third goal, but the fourth goal put a stamp on things. Vidi are a very good side and they showed why they are fighting for the title. I would like to congratulate them. Perhaps it is strange that we let in 5 goals, but I feel that the team did not let themselves down. We switched off at times in defence but this can happen. The supporters saw a good game with tempo and goals. The team played well in the first half."
