Andre Alves scored Vidi's leveller in a game between top and bottom
Videoton travelled to bottom of the division side Szolnok, on Saturday. Despite the lovely sunny weather, the state of the pitch made it hard to play good football, with Vidi having to settle for a point.
Szolnok: Melnicenko, Durovic, Máté P., Vukadinovic, Milicic - Fitos, (Tchami, 80.) Némedi, Búrány, Jokic, (Ngalle, 64.), - Remili, Zsolnai, (Szalai, 58.) | ||
Andre Alves scored Videoton's goal when he took advantage of a defensive mistake, to slip the ball into the back of the empty net. His goal cancelled out a 15th minute opener for the home side, which saw Zsolnai slot home from close range. The point means that Vidi now lead the Monicomp league division one table by ten points, from second in the table Ferencvaros. A good away turn out made plenty of noise behind the goal, with Gyorgy Mezey pleased to see the international break ended, with the focus returning to league football. This was never going to be an easy game, as Szolnok are fighting for their lives, as they try to avoid relegation back to the second division. The pitch was not the best Vidi will play on this season, as the ball had plenty of bounce in it.

Vidi lined up without Polonkai, who has a virus, and is likely to miss several weeks of football. However, they welcomed back Hungarian international trio Pal Lazar, Akos Elek and Zoltan Liptak, while Macedonian keeper, Mladen Bozsovics took his place in goal. It was Szolnok who began the game better, with Vidi finding it hard to adjust to the difficult conditions. Rivals Ferencvaros managed to win at home in the Budapest derby, beating Ujpest by a single goal. Videoton will now turn their attentions to next Friday's match at home to third in the table ZTE. Three points in that match, will be another giant stride towards the aim of the first league title success. This match proved that there are no easy games in the Hungarian first division, with one thing guaranteed, which is that every side will be trying their best, between now and the end of the season, to take points of the red and blues. Szolnok managed to take a point of Gyorgy Mezey's side in this game, but they will have a far harder task to remain in the top divsion.
