A second half Marco Caneira goal was enough to split the two sides in Tuesday's friendly.

A large crowd turned out to watch two big sides face each other in a pre-season friendly. Plenty of Hungarian and Romanian citizens work in the local area, which resulted in a good atmosphere in Tuesday's friendly match. The match also saw Vidi pick up a notable win against a quality side.

Manager José Gomes changed his entire side at half time, while the Romanian manager decided that just one change would be sufficient. Steaua then began making several substitutions from the 60th minute onwards, without causing any real problems for Vidi.

Videoton managed to dominate mid-way through the second half, creating some good chances in front of goal. Lupeta was proving to be the main threat with his height and strength. The 62nd minute saw Paraiba win a free kick from a dangerous position on the left. Alvarez stood behind the ball, before curling in a nice cross towards the far post, which Lupeta managed to connect with towards goal. The ball would probably have gone in but defender Caneira made sure of things by sticking his foot out to guide the ball into the back of the net.

Zsoter showed selfishness five minutes later, when he got hold of the ball inside Steaua's box, which eventually found its way to Sandor, who looked up and crossed well for Lupeta to head just wide of goal. "Lupi" tried his luck with his head again on 77 minutes, but fortune remained with the Romanian side and the score remained 1-0.

The friendly match was a good one overall, with Vidi picking up a positive win over record title winners Steaua Bucharest, which will give José Gomes' side plenty of confidence going into the future. Vidi were the better side in the second half, deservedly coming out on top by a single goal. The Fehervar side will play their final friendly match on Friday evening against German side Karlsruher, with kick off at 18:00pm.
