An unlucky own goal in the first half saw the home side take the lead. A Szakaly penalty extended the score for Paks in the second half.
The league season continued following a two week international break. Vidi travelled to the home of Paks, where they last managed to win under the management of Paulo Sousa, almost four years ago. There were places in the starting eleven for recent signings Suljic and Nego.
It was the Fehervar side that started more actively. Kovacs released Feczesin after 2 minutes, but he could not make good contact with the ball. The home side then sent in an 8th minute free kick in to the box, which ended with Bartha heading at goal. Danilovics spilled the ball, even though it appeared as if he was fouled in his attempt to get hold of the ball. It required Szolnoki to hack the ball off the line. Vidi enjoyed more of the ball but there wasn't really any major chance on either goal. Szakaly then took an indirect free kick on 22 minutes from the left. The curling ball in was flicked on by Nego as the ball settled in to the back of the net (1-0). Paks' Szabo then saw his shot on goal from 15 meters well saved by Danilovics from just under the bar.
Tamas Peto replaced Szolnoki with Stopira at half time, who had recently linked up again with Vidi. The second half was a bit untidy in the early exchanges with referee Ivanyi handing out three yellow cards. Two of those went to Videoton players, while Szabo picked up his second booking on 50 minutes, which was his second and Paks were reduced to ten men.
Paks were still able to extend their lead with ten men. Bartha went down in the area besides Vinicius. The referee pointed straight at the spot. Denes Szakaly stood behind the ball and placed the ball to the centre. Danilovics managed to make contact with the ball but it was not enough and the home side made 2-0. A 65th minute ball in from the wing was headed by Vagi, ahead of the waiting Nego, which almost resulted in the ball ending up in his own net. A cross from Suljic then flew towards Molnar's goal. The tall keeper was forced to tip the ball over from just under the bar.
The 72nd minute saw Bartha escape a red card when he kicked out at Lang, who was lying on the pitch. Molnar then saved a good effort from Oliveira. Another smart stop from the home keeper followed on 84 minutes, when he reacted well to save a powerful long distance shot from Gyurcso. There was no further action in the remaining minutes as the referee blew the final whistle.
Ujpest are next up with a league match next Saturday. The match at the Sostoi stadium will kick off at 20:30.
