The fantastic run in the league comes to a halt

Debrecen picked up a 2-1 win at the Sostoi stadium with Vidi's goal coming from Kovacs, while Kulcsar scored a double for the visitors.

There were two changes to the side that Videoton managed to put out over recent weeks. Nemanja Nikolics had a virus, which effected him since Friday evening, which saw him have a fever. This forced him to miss Sunday's league game with Debrecen. Stopira arrived back to Hungary on Friday evening from international duty, so the coaching staff made the decision not to include him in the squad.

October is the battle against breast cancer month. Videoton have also joined the campaign, which calls attention to the importance of prevention of breast cancer. Vidi's players wore pink tops as they ran out on to the pitch, while the ultra's behind the goal prepared a fantastic scene inside the stadium, which saw around 5,000 supporters come out to watch the game.

The home side went on the attack and caused danger after 3 minutes, when Gyurcso took a free kick from the edge of the box, which curled dangerously in before hitting a defender and going out for a corner. The winger remained in the thick of the action in the following minutes, trying several times to put in crosses, but the visitors defended well. Bodi tested Calatayud on 11 minutes, with the keeper confidently holding on to a shot from the midfielder. Several balls came in to the middle, especially from the right with both Gyurcso and Oliveira putting balls in front of the goal. However, Debrecen's defenders managed to clear the danger. Tisza connected badly with a ball in from Kulcsar after 23 minutes, so there was no real danger. The breakthrough arrived after 27 minutes for DVSC: Szakaly escaped down the left before crossing in to the middle for the arriving Kulcsar to head home from 8 meters out. (0-1).

Gyurcso's cross a minute later was headed clear, with Sandor first controlling and then hitting a shot from 28 meters that Novakovic saved. The equaliser came after 35 minutes: Szolnoki's thrown was flicked on by Juhasz, and the ball landed at the feet of Kovacs, who turned well to fire a right footed shot in to the back of the net from 13 meters. (1-1).

Vidi remained on the attack following the goal, pushing the visitors back until the half time whistle, but the red and blues could not take the lead. Feczesin was the closest to scoring, with his low shot going just wide from 17 meters out.

Gyurcso sent a free kick high in towards goal at the start of the second half, with Juhasz arriving on the right, but the ball was just too high for him. Mate pushed Juhasz, who fell to the ground, but the match official did not stop play. Feczesin flicked a Gyurcso ball on after 54 minutes, but Juhasz who arrived at the far post could not reach the ball, which went out of play. Debrecen restored their lead on 58 minutes: Kulcsar escaped down the left wing, before cutting in beside Vinicius, and then hitting a right foot shot in to the top left hand corner. (1-2).

Gyurcso had another chance on goal after 61 minutes with a right foot shot, with Feczesin sliding in at the post, but without making contact. Jovanovic then slid in with an outstretched foot on Kovacs, but escaped without picking up a yellow card.

The biggest chances in the minutes that remained came from the head of Juhasz and the corner kicks from Alvarez. However, the defending Debrecen players managed to cope with everything that came their way. Sandor had a long distance shot right on full time, which deflected out for a corner. Feczesin also went on a run down the left after 96 minutes, crossing the ball in to the middle, but the ball was hacked off the line by a defender.

Debrecen won 2-1, with the fantastic run of wins coming to an end in the 11th match. Vidi continue to lead the table with a match at Paks, next up on Saturday.
