Vidi put in an impressive performance on Sunday evening as they ran out 5-1 winners.
Match 6 of the OTP league saw Ujpest FC visit the MOL Arena Sosto on Sunday evening. The visitors went into the game in sixth place while we were second in the table. Manager Gabor Marton chose the following side: Kovácsik - Bolla, Musliu, Stopira, Fiola - Nego, Nikolov - Funsho, Houri, Evandro - Zivzivadze.
The first chance arrived on 2 minutes with around 3000 inside the stadium. A nice move ended with a cross from Funsho, which Zivzivadze connected with from close range, but Banai pulled off a smart save. A minute later and again the visiting keeper was made to work as a long range shot from Stopira was saved. Funsho shot over on 9 minutes from 22 meters out. The first Ujpest chance arrived after 15 minutes with a long range free kick from Stieber confidently saved by Kovacsik. There was a header from Stopira after 18 minutes before a period where neither goal was under threat.
It was Ujpest's Tallo that broke the peace with a goal, but the match officials ruled out the chance. The biggest chance of the half arrived towards the end: Zivzivadze pounced on a poor back pass, and he took the ball around Banai before shooting from a tight angle and finding the post. The ball came back into play and into the path of Funsho, who sent his shot just wide. The two sides went into the break with the score at 0-0.
Bolla had the first chance of the second period with his left footed effort from 20 meters. However, it ended up going over the bar. Vidi went ahead after 59 minutes: Houri curled a corner in for Stopira to powerfully head at goal, but it was headed over by a defender. The resulting corner was a repeat, but this time Stopira rose high to head the ball into the back of the net (1-0).
Two minutes later and Vidi doubled their lead: Houri sent a lovely ball in to release Funsho down the middle, and he took the ball towards goal before finding the top left corner (2-0).
That opened up the floodgates as the score increased to 3-0 on 66 minutes, before that became 4-0 after 68 minutes. First Bolla sent a ball in from the right, which Evandro did well to control and lay the ball into the path of Zivzivadze to score (3-0). Then Nikolov was played in and he took the ball beyond Ristevski before shooting low to make it 4-0.
Banai did well to deny Zivzivadze after 73 minutes, which ended with Funsho shooting but it was blocked and the ball fell to Houri, who shot just wide. Nikolic came on and he soon found the net, but it was flagged offside, despite him lifting the ball over the keeper from 16 meters. Petryak showed good skill on 86 minutes before shooting wide from 14 meters. There was still time for a further Vidi goal as Niko chased down a ball and it was deflected in by defender Ristevski for an own goal at 5-0.
Georgi Beridze scored a late consolation to make the final score 5-1. An international break now follows before Vidi are next in action away at Honved on the 17th October.
