Q + A with Mirko Ivanovski

We asked the players questions about their everyday lives, the habits and whether there are any important aspects that play a vital role besides work and learning.

Hi! My name is Helga, and I will try my best to help you get to know the players that play week in, week out for Videoton better. Here is my question and answer session with Mirko Ivanovski. Let's get straight to it.

- How do you keep in contact with everyone back at home?
It depends where I am and how much time I have. I will call them up to speak on Skype, but there are so many telephone applications now that I can keep in contact with my family, like Whatsapp or Viber.

- Do you watch cartoons?
I do not have time for these things, but I used to watch Cartoon Network when I was a kid. My favourite was Tom & Jerry.

- What do you most like about Hungary?
Although I have not been living here too long, I have been several times to Budapest, and have also visited Győr and Debrecen. I think that Budapest is one of the nicest cities in central Europe. I really like the Hungarian kitchen, and have already tried a few Hungarian specialities. I would say that Gulyas is my favourite meal of all of them.

- What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
If I have any free time then I really like travelling with my wife. We will go for a long weekend away to a wellness hotel, or a place where we can swim or play tennis. Another kind of relaxation is simply going out shopping.

- What item do you feel that you cannot live without?
Naturally it is the football itself, which I cannot live without and I plan to keep this the most important thing for the next ten years. If I am forced to mention an item, then it would be clothes. I enjoy shopping for clothes.

- Do you ever get homesick?
Not too often. I have been living in various towns for around ten years now, which means that I am away from my family. I have got used to this situation. I always have the chance to spend a longer period of time at home at the end of the season, which is enough for me.

- What was your favourite subject at school?
I enjoyed maths, chemistry and naturally physical education.

- Do you buy your wife flowers?
Very often. Flowers and other presents. She deserves everything, as she is the other half of me.

- Is there anything that you would change about yourself?
At present I think that there is not. I enjoy life, and spending time together with my wife. I also enjoy football itself. This is a very good time in my life.

- What is your favourite housework?
I would gladly say none. I prefer to sit in front of the TV, or spend time on the computer, watch sport or surf the internet. If I really have to and am alone, then I will do the cleaning up.

- You have living here for two months now. What is the biggest difference between Hungary, Szekesfehervar and those countries and cities that you have so far lived in?
Each city is different. Hungary is a very clean country and the people are friendly. I especially like Szekesfehervar as it is very quiet. Romania is also a nice place, but the people are completely different than in Hungary. Macedonia is a poor country, but the people basically work to survive. Although they would love to have the lifestyle of a western European country, unfortunately they cannot manage this.

- Do you have any pre-match habits before running out onto the pitch?
Yes, there is, but I will keep it a secret.

- Do you cook?
No. If I am alone then I will go out to a restaurant, but it is generally my wife that does the cooking.

- Who is the best player that you have played against?
I can mention quite a few. Hazard at Chelsea would be one, but I could talk about Modric or Rakitic. There are also several Serbian players among the best.

 - Who is the best player in the world?
It would have to be Ronaldo and Messi.

- Would you rather live in a big city or small village?
As long as I am playing football, then it is good if I can live in a big city. I would like to live in a quieter town after that. A similar place like Szekesfehervar or Bitola where I was born. There isn't too much traffic or people. It is quiet in the evening, which is important for a person to be able to relax.

- What do you see yourself doing in 5 years’ time?
I do not think a lot about the future, but I am sure that I would like to be healthy and play football.

- Is there anywhere in the world that you have not yet been to, but would gladly visit?
I have been to most of the countries in Europe. My next big target is to go somewhere within the USA. Los Angeles or New York. We will see whether I can see them one day.
