NK Maribor opened up their league campaign with a 5-0 win against Triglav Gorenjska.
Darko Milanic's side opened up their domestic league season on Sunday, with a big win. He decided to rest key players, Anđelkovič, Mezga, and Tavares, who were all on the bench. Elvedin Džinić, who was recently out with the Slovenian World Cup squad, played in the game. The opponents were down to 10 men after just 8 minutes, with Najdenov fouling the last man. Pavličić scored the resulting free kick.
Maribor doubled their lead ten minutes later.
There was a mix up in front of goal, which saw Plut shoot into the bottom corner of the net. A minute before that goal, Bačinović was forced to come off with an injury, which needed 6 stitches to the wound. However, it looks as if he will be all right to face Videoton on Thursday. Maribor extended their lead a minute before half time, when Plut scored following a good counter attack. Plut scored his third goal at the start of the second half. Ales Merelj also scored to secure a comprehensive win.
