Match Report: Vidi and Mezokovesd share a point each

A first half goal from Suljic was cancelled out by the visitors at the Pancho Arena.

The midweek league win over Gyirmot was followed by a home game against Mezokovesd at Felcsut. Istvan Kovacs suffered a serious injury in the win on Wednesday and the players paid their own respects with a "get well Koko" sign before the match. Geresi and Patkai were both on the bench after starting in the game against Gyirmot.

The first chance came after 10 minutes when Sos pulled the ball back from the goal line, before passing to Strestik, who played it on to Egerszegi, but his shot was blocked by Juhasz, and the ball went out for a corner. Hadzic had a shot on 17 minutes, which went wide of the visitors goal. Vinicius then played a lovely long ball a minute later from the half way line, and it found Scepovic, who controlled the ball with good skill, but the resulting shot went over the bar.

The action continued on 23 minutes when Vagi released Sos, who was squeezed out by Vinicius, but he still managed to shoot wide of the goal from a tight angle. The visitors again got hold of the ball and this time Strestik was in possession inside the Vidi half. He found Molnar, who turned Juhasz and following a bounce, shot at goal, but the ball rebounded off a defender and Kovacsik managed to gather the ball.

Videoton took the lead after 25 minutes with a nice move. Maric played a lovely flick on to the unmarked Suljic, who from 10 meters, calmly controlled the ball before beating Tujvel to make it 1-0.

The home supporters did not have too long to celebrate the breakthrough. The visitors hit back quick with a nice goal of their own. A ball from the left was nicely curled into the box and Gabor Molnar volley the ball home from 13 meters to make it 1-1. Kovacsik managed to get contact with it, but it was a good strike and it ended in the back of the net.

Vidi tried hard to restore the lead and Szolnoki crossed from the left after 33 minutes, which Scepovic tried to scissor kick inside the box, but he could not make clean contact and the danger escaped. Maric sent a high ball into the penalty area after 41 minutes following a free kick, which Juhasz flicked on towards the far post for the arriving Fiola, but the defender sent his header crashing against the bar.

Henning Berg replaced Hadzic at half time with Geresi. The second half kicked off and the supporters inside the Pancho Arena had to wait until the 50th minute for a long throw in by Szolnoki, which found its way to Scepovic, who ended up on the floor in suspicious circumstances, but referee Solymosi waved play on. The resulting counter attack ended with Strestik shooting at goal, but Kovacsik was well placed to deal with it. Egerszegi found Strestik with a good ball, and the Mezokovesd team captain hesitated, which allowed Nego to slide in and deny the visiting side.

Suljic was involved in the build up on 67 minutes, which ended with Maric shooting just wide of the post. Maric tried his luck again four minutes later, but his shot from 17 meters, was tipped over by Tujvel and the ball went out for a corner. The resulting corner was also dangerous as Maric sent in a curling ball, which Juhasz connected with, but the former Vidi goalkeeper pulled off a good save. Maric again put in a nice corner and again Juhasz went close from 8 meters, but again Tujvel denied him.

A 76th minute Suljic shot rebounded off a defender, and only just went wide of the visiting goal. There were no more serious chances for either side in the remaining 15 minutes of the game. That meant that Vidi had to settle for a point on a day when rivals Honved won their game. Their 2-0 win meant they leapfrogged Videoton into top place.

Vidi are next in action next week with a visit to Budapest and the home of MTK.
