A fantastic last minute leveller from Danko Lazovics cancelled out Remili's first half goal.
Videoton travelled to the home of Vasas on Saturday in what was the final game at the Budapest stadium. The match was always going to be a special one for that reason. Another reason was that the match saw first against second. The Ilovszky stadium had a good crowd inside it for the final time as the match kicked off. The stadium hosted the first ever first division match between the two back in 1968.
There were over 5000 to see the final 90 minutes of action before demolition begins and a new stadium built in its place. Henning Berg made a single change to the side that had comprehensively defeated Paks a week earlier. Nego picked up his fifth booking last week, which meant that Stopira came in to replace him.
The first 10 minutes saw the home sides Turkish player, Saglik twice look dangerous. His first was a long range strike where he tried to surprise visiting keeper Kovacsik, although he did not manage that. He then went on to miss a guilt edge chance when he blasted over from 11 meters.
Vidi then gradually grew into the match and took over control but they could not create a serious change. A Remili free kick on the half hour needed a good save from Kovacsik to deny him. However, he was beaten 8 minutes later when Berecz found Remili with a good pass and the home player ran unchallenged on goal before calmly finding the back of the net (1-0). That was Remili's 8th goal in 13 games against Vidi, which have also included a further 5 assists.
The 42nd minute saw Scepovic lay the ball on nicely for Hadzic, who from 15 meters, powerfully shot at goal, but home keeper Gergely Nagy pulled off a very good stop to maintain the home sides advantage. The final action of the first half ended with Fiola also keeping the Vasas keeper busy.
The second half kicked off with Vidi looking to get back into the match. Geresi had a chance after 57 minutes, but the youngster shot the wrong side of the post. A powerful Hadzic strike minutes later just missed the target. Geresi again found himself with a good chance on goal, but he was again unable to find the target.
Time appeared to be running out for Vidi to not only get back into the game but come from behind to gain the maximum points. Chances kept on coming but the visiting side failed to convert them. The Szekesfehervar side showed plenty of character by not giving up. Scepovic saw his shot blocked by the keeper and then by a defender.
Vidi were awarded a 91st minute free kick, which Lazovics stood behind. He bent his shot from the left into the far corner from 26 meters to score a fine goal. It was no more that Videoton deserved after creating numerous chances. The point gained by both sides means that the points difference between the two remains at 5.
Lazovics goal also found its way into the history books as it was the final one at the Illovszky Rudolf stadium. Videoton are next in action at the Pancho Arena next week when they take on Gyirmot.
