Match Report: Eight out of eight - Haladas were unable to stop Vidi's record run

A Nikolics double gave Vidi the three points at Haladas with the 100% record still intact.

In nice early autumn weather, Videoton were the visitors at Szombathely in weekend 8 of the OTP league. The first chance of the game arrived on 8 minutes when Gyurcso crossed from the right, and Nikolics headed at goal from 15 meters, producing a comfortable save for Rozsa. Kovacs sent a shot wide of the post 5 minutes later, while Halmosi tested Calatayud after 17 minutes. Vidi went down the other end and Oliveira headed over following a Gyurcso cross.

The lead arrived on 24 minutes: Sandor shook off his man in the middle before passing the ball out to the right to Oliveira, whose cross in to the middle was headed in to the bottom right from the arriving Nikolics to make it 0-1.

Rocchi found himself with a chance from the kick off, with the veteran Italian forward shooting from 7 meters, which brought a good save out of Calatayud. Kopunek then slid in from behind on Nikolics after 26 minutes. That sent the forward to the floor and referee Ando-Szabo showed a yellow card first, but following a short discussion with his assistant then turned in to a red card for the Slovakian player, who was part of his national teams 2010 World Cup squad.

The lead was doubled after 32 minutes: Gyurcso escaped on the right, and unselfishly played the ball square for Nikolics to find the back of the net from 7 meters. That was the forwards 10th league goal of the season and the wingers 10th assist this season to make it 0-2.

Goal number 3 almost came three minutes later when Kovacs fought his way past a defender on the edge of the box, before shooting with the outside of his right foot, which Rozsa saved.

Rocchi had an effort after 38 minutes, which ended with his left foot strike going over the bar from 17 meters out. Halmosi was the second home player to see red after 41 minutes. He slid in from behind on defender Szolnoki, and that produced a straight red from the match official. Vinicius sent a header just wide before the half time whistle, as the sides went in at the break with Vidi enjoying a 2-0 lead.

The second half began with a cross that was headed away by the home defence. The 52nd minute saw Juhasz' shot just miss the target. He remained in the thick of the action after 65 minutes, when Oliveira's cross was connected with, and the the ball came back off the post.

Sandor in the 70th minute and then Szolnoki after 76 minutes tried their luck from distance, but neither ended up as a goal. Stopira did have a header go wide on 83 minutes. Oliver Nagy then had two attempts for the home side towards the end. His first shot went over, while Calatayud saved his second one, which was cleared from danger. Juhasz looked dangerous and he shot over from 10 meters following a rebound.

There was no change in the scoreline with Vidi winning their 8th league match of the season to remain unbeaten at the top of the table. Only MTK have enjoyed a longer winning streak in 1996-97 since Vidi moved up to the first division in 1968. It is back to Hungarian cup action on Tuesday with a match at Szigetszentmiklos. Vidi then entertain DVTK next Sunday in the 9th weekend of the OTP league season.
