Match Report: Defeat at the home of MTK

Vidi went down 3-1 against MTK on Saturday evening.

Match 10 of the OTP league season saw Vidi make the trip to Budapest to face MTK. Manager Gabor Marton chose the following side: Rockov - Fiola, Musliu, Stopira, Hangya - Nikolov, Rúben Pinto - Nego, Houri, Funsho - Nikolic.

The game did not start well as a shot from Prosser on 7 minutes was saved by Rockov. Two minutes later and the visiting keeper was helpless as Cseke sent his penalty into the bottom corner after Musliu brought down the forward and also entered the referee's book.

Vidi looked for a quick response and Funsho received a good ball after 11 minutes. The winger sent his chance wide of the goal. MTK could have doubled their lead after 14 minutes. A bad shot ended at the feet of Miovski, who from close range blasted his shot over the bar.

Houri curled a free kick from 25 meters wide of the goal as the game continued with chances at both ends. Nego tried to level but his free kick also failed to hit the target. Herrera sent his shot from 14 meters at goal, which produced a good stop from Rockov. The sides went into the break with MTK leading 1-0.

A crossball from Pinto in the 6th minute of the second half found Nego on the edge of the box and his volley brought a save from MTK keeper Mijatovic. Prosser shot from close moments later but the assistant raised his flag for offside. The blue and whites doubled their lead after 64 minutes. Schon sending an impressive 25 meter shot into the top corner to make it 2-0. It became 3-0 a couple of minutes later when Herrera crossed from the left and Miovski got in front of Stopira to find the back of the net 3-0.

The home side sat back with their three goal advantage. We tried hard to find a way through and a curling cross from the left by Fiola was met by the head of Stopira to score a consolation 3-1. There were no further goals and MTK won 3-1.

An international break will now follow with Vidi next in league action at the MOL Arena Sosto on the 22nd November and a match against DVTK.
