First half goals from Mate Patkai and Danko Lazovic secured the three points for Vidi.
Videoton went into Saturday's game against Mezokovesd in good spirits on the back of last weeks 4-0 away win at Gyirmot. Vidi were after their second win of the season, which would see them move towards the top of the league table. Henning Berg made just one change to his starting line-up with Bodi coming in for Feczesin.
The match started with two quick yellow cards in the opening minutes. Suljic went into the book after he handled. Vosahlik followed him into the referee's notebook shortly after. The visitors had the first chance on 5 minutes when Tarmo Kink shot from 14 meters just over the bar after neat footwork on the edge of the box. Videoton went ahead when a Bodi corner eluded everyone at the near post and the ball fell kindly to Patkai at the far post, who made no mistake in finding the back of the net 1-0. The midfielder timed his run well to beat former Vidi keeper Tujvel. The lead was doubled 3 minutes later when Nego sent in a low cross from the right, which Lazovic met perfectly to guide the ball into the bottom corner and give the keeper no chance (2-0). It was a great start for the boys in red and blue and the visitors could find no way back.
Vidi were comfortable in protecting their two goal lead, but there were no real chances in front of either goal for long periods of the first half. We had to wait until 35 minutes when Geresi could have extended the home side's lead. A neat move ended with the ball at the feet of the youngster, but his shot went wide of the far post and the score remained at 2-0.
The first real chance of the second period came after 63 minutes when Geresi showed good movement, before finding Juhasz, who tried to release Suljic on the right, but the ball rebounded off a defender into the path of Juhasz, who shot from 17 meters, but the ball again found a defender and went out for a corner. Geresi fell to the ground inside the box on 69 minutes, but the referee waved play on.
There were fewer chances than in the first half, with Vidi defending their lead and the visiting side unable to find a way through a good Vidi back line.
The match was almost over when Vinicius did very well to play in Feczesin after 93 minutes, but the forward was unselfish and tried to find Geresi with a pass, but the ball ended up being cleared. Videoton picked up the three points thanks to early goals from Patkai and Lazovic.
