Goals from Kovacs and Musliu earned Vidi all three points against Debrecen.
Debrecen were the visitors to the MOL Arena Sosto on Saturday evening in what was match 8 of the league season. Loki went into the game in 8th place against a Vidi side occupying first position. Mate Patkai missed the game with a muscle strain while Marko Futacs had an ankle injury that forced him out. He hopes to link back up with the others in training next week. The son and grandchildren of Gabor Horvath, who sadly passed away recently, took the kick off.
It was a very good start to the match with Hodzic releasing Kovacs on 9 minutes and the midfielder made no mistake as he found the bottom right corner with a low shot (1-0).
Three minutes later and Kovacs brought Hodzic into play with the forward bringing a good stop from the DVSC keeper. The Vidi number 10 was playing very well and he started a move on 23 minutes, which again found Hodzic. The forward wanted to pass to Petryak but the visiting defence managed to clear the danger. Petryak fed Hodzic with the ball after 26 minutes and his first touch saw him move beyond the defender with the ball and keeper Nagy did very well to deny him.
The half hour mark saw the second goal of the match but this time it went to DVSC. Kevin Varga played the ball into the middle, which was flicked on by Musliu with Nego unable to clear and Garba stretching out his leg towards the head of the Vidi keeper. Adenji arrived to tap home the lose ball to make it 1-1 on the night.
The first half was nearing to an end when Hodzic and Petryak had goalscoring chances. Both players saw their efforts fail to hit the target and the two teams went in at the break with the score at 1-1.
The second half started with a 16 meters shot from Garba, which Kovacsik punched away with Juhasz hacking the ball away. Hodzic brought a save out of Nagy with his 60th minute header. A corner after 66 minutes again saw the ball fall to the Bosnian forward. This time his shot from 10 meters again produced a good save from keeper Nagy. The rebound ended at the feet of Musliu who made no mistake to make it 2-1.
Debrecen player Ferenczi had a long range shot well saved by Kovacsik with 20 minutes left. The action continued with Petryak hitting the back of the net but it was disallowed by referee Ivanyi. Sub Pantic sent a shot from 28 meters straight at the keeper, who punched it clear. Juhasz headed an 85 minute free kick just wide of the post.
Vidi could not sit back on their lead with Loki having a free kick from a dangerous position in stoppage time. Tozser curled his 23 meter shot the wrong side of the post and the final whistle blew. Vidi collected the three important points with a good 2-1 home win. The red and blues are next in action away at Mezokovesd after the international break.
