There were several chances in the first half, with efforts at both ends in the second half. Ujpest won the match with a 93rd minute winner in the League cup match.
Videoton played their fourth group match at the home of Ujpest with around 1000 people inside the stadium in Budapest. Vidi had beaten the lilacs 3-1 at the Sostoi stadium a week earlier. The visitors grasped the initiative from the start placing lots of pressure from the first minute on the home side. The 2nd minute saw Kleinheisler hit a high ball towards goal from 35 meters out, which keeper Balajcza did well to save. The ball would have squeezed in under the bar without the intervention of the experienced goalkeeper. Trebotic then hit a shot after 14 meters, but Balajcza was once again well placed to deal with it. Feczesin went close to opening the score on 7 minutes, with his shot going just wide of the far post.
Almost 5 minutes later, Kleinheisler flickered in to action, and cut in from the left before hitting a powerful effort at goal, but the ball hit the sidenetting. Balajcza was again in the thick of the action as he saved a shot from Heffler after 28 minutes. Sandor then tried his luck from 18 meters but Vidi could not break the deadlock. The second part of the first half saw the game become more balanced, although Ujpest could not really create any chances.
There were three changes at the break for the home side, but the second half started with big chances for Videoton. Trebotic escaped down the left before crossing the ball in to the centre, where Sandor headed wide from 5 meters out. The first chance for Ujpest came on 52 minutes, when first Szalanszki tested Horvath from 22 meters. A good move from Vidi ended with the ball at the feet of Kleinheisler, who hit a first time volley on goal following good movement, but it hit a defender. Ujpest went very close to scoring after 66 minutes. Vasziljevics crossed from the right and Marques at the far post hit a volley from 10 meters out, with Horvath beaten, before Fejes cleared the ball off the line. It was a good stop by the defender to deny the home side.
The second half was more balanced than the first, with goalscoring chances at both ends. With everyone settling for a 0-0 draw, Ujpest won a corner in the 93rd minute, which saw Tcveiba Sandro finding the net from close range (1-0). This resulted in the first defeat of the season for the red and blues.
Vasas beat Ajka 2-1 in the other group match. Vidi remain top of Group E, with a two points lead over Ujpest, while Vasas are in third place with 3 points. The league season continues on Sunday when Debrecen are the visitors to the Sostoi stadium. It promises to be one of the matches of the autumn season.
