On Saturday, the winger of our team, Mátyás Katona will meet his younger brother on the pitch for the first time.
The match between our team and Kecskemét on Saturday at 15:00 could be an exciting duel between brothers. Mátyás Katona will play for our team, while his younger brother Bálint Katona, born in 2002, will take the field for KTE.
- Only once before have our current teams played against each other, in October last year in the 2-1 away win between Újpest and Kecskemét, where Bálint scored. However, I left the pitch two minutes before he came on, so we didn't meet on the pitch during the match. It was a strange feeling, I don't like playing against my brother, but that's part of football. We played a lot together as kids, and then we played football in the same club, but not on the same team.
We also asked our winger if his teammates ask him for advice on what to do about his brother.
- We're not preparing for one person, but for the whole of Kecskemét, so we don't talk to my teammates about him. Anyway, Bálint and I talk a lot, of course not about how they are preparing or how they are going to line up against us. It's a big family and most of them will be here for the game, so I'll have to ask for a lot more tickets (laughs).
We also talked to Matyi about Saturday's opponent - because of his brother, he follows the Bács-Kiskun county side's performance more than normal.
- I've been following Kecskemét's games for a longer time, I was at quite a few of their games in the NB II last season. They have a very strong team, mostly at home, but they also get good results away from home. Up front, they have some very good Hungarian players, but we can find weaknesses in them, which we have to exploit. I don't like comparisons between us, who is better, Bálint or me. We both have room for improvement, that's our goal, that's why we are both working.
Bálint Katona, who joined Kecskemét on loan from Ferencváros for the second year in a row, also said that he is looking forward to meeting his brother.
- We talk every week two or three times, but I think this time it will be cancelled, at least I don't plan to call him. It will be a special match for both of us, but I don't really feel it right now, I think it will be fun after the match.
The player, who has now scored seven goals in this season's NB I campaign, also spoke about the memories they have together.
- He was the one who always cheated me at the time, which of course made me nervous. I know his game to some extent, obviously better than the others. If we are going to face each other, I would like to come out of it better. The last time we met in Újpest, we won and I scored a goal. We'll see how this game goes.
