The two managers spoke to the gathered media after the final whistle on Sunday.
José Gomes: "I was not counting on this kind of match. We never prepare that we will make such big mistakes as we did against Debrecen. The lads trained well and honestly all week, but we cannot make three big mistakes against such strong opponents. Those three big mistakes cost us two goals. At the same time I think that the current unsuccessful period is not about the manager. The problem is not with how the team prepares, or what the training sessions are like, or who plays out there on the pitch. I respect the supporters, as without them there is no football, and you can never say anything bad about them. Football is like this and you cannot always achieve the result that a person would like to. We are in a very difficult position with a ten points difference, and a maximum of 24 points to still play for. It is unlikely that Debrecen will drop 10 points until the end of the season. We will not give up. We will never give up! Under my management and with the same playing squad, the club achieved their most successful start to a league season in autumn. We need to focus on this and also that Videoton achieves its best ever finish to a league season in the remaining eight games. In the event that we do not win the league, I will consider this season as one without success. We have eight games left, the situation is difficult, but I will not give up!"
Kondás Elemér: "Things happened as I had counted on in a very difficult match. We knew that the home side would by all costs play football, and this is how it turned out. We conceded the goal early on, but we then turned things around with two nice goals. They tried to force us back in front of our own goal with two forwards in the second half. My team stood their ground well. Today we did not have to play nicely, but with result. There is a ten points lead in the table between the two sides, but I do not consider it realistic that there there should be 10 points difference between Videoton and Debrecen."
