It was five years ago today!

An interesting statistic is that Videoton last won the Hungarian cup five years ago to the day. That game against Vasas ended 2-2 after 90 minutes, with the game going in to extra time and an eventual penalty shootout. That match took place at Ferencvaros' Albert stadium, and there are very few Vidi fans who will forget that evening. The 2001 cup final also took place at the same stadium, but it was Debrecen who emerged 5-2 winners in that affair. Debrecen went into that match occupying a relegation place, and they ended up turning paper form on it's head. Tuesday's cup final with Kecskemet will give Vidi the chance to pick up the league and cup double for this season, and confirm that they are now the top side in Hungarian football.
