Videoton FC went out of the Hungarian cup at a very cold Miskolc on Wednesday evening. In conditions, which saw the temperature around the minus five mark. The pitch was very slippery, so overall it was not the best conditions to play a football match in. Vidi were playing in their blue and white kit against a home side who were in their all black strip. It was also the third time that the two sides had met in the space of a short period of time, with the previous two matches ending in a draw. Oliveira and Sandor had two very big chances early on, but both efforts did not end up in the back of the net. DVTK found themselves ahead from their first real venture into their opponents half. A cross from the left found the hand of defender Vinicius, which resulted in the referee pointing to the penalty spot. Futacs calmly sent Calatayud the wrong way to give Diosgyőr an early lead (1-0).

Zé Luis then had three big goalscoring chances in the space of a minute, but once again luck was against the visiting side. His first chance came with a shot while the latter two were from headers. The home keeper was alert to all three chances. Videoton continued to attack the home side, but just as before, they were unable to score from the chances that came their way. Barczi did have a shot for DVTK, but the half time score remained 1-0.

The second half began with a chance for Diosgyőr, with Futacs escaping the attention of Caneira, but his shot was saved by Calatayud. Vidi had more of the possession, which mirrored the situation in the first half. Vitor Gomes sent his shot wide of the target after 54 minutes. Keeper Rajic was well placed to deal with a 62 minute Zé Luis effort. With time running out for the visiting team, José Gomes' side continued to put the home team under pressure, but that allowed Diosgyőr to hit counter attacks. There were chances at both ends in the final 15 minutes of the cup tie. Nildo and Sandor tested Rajic, while Nikhazi headed at goal, and Bacsa also produced a smart stop from Calatayud. The final chance of the game came from a Brachi free kick, which was well held by the home keeper.

DVTK emerged 1-0 winners on aggregate, going through to the next round. Vidi now face Ferencvaros in the final match this side of the winter break.
