Videoton - Honved 0-2 (0-0) Danilo 52, 57
Two second half goals do the damage at the Sostoi stadium
Honved produced a smash and grab job on a cold Friday evening at the Sostoi stadium. Honved have had a fairly good start to the season, and the Budapest side were aiming to end Videoton's run of 6 wins in a row. Gyorgy Mezey fielded a settled side with Sandor dropping down to the bench, as captain Balazs Farkas and Akos Elek occupied the central midfield places. Nikolics came back into the starting line up alongside top scorer Andre Alves. Martin Mutumba and Bojan Djordjic had to settle for a place on the bench. A win for Vidi would have extended their lead at the top to 9 points, but manager Mezey will be hoping that this was only a hiccup and his side can quickly recover from this.
The home side enjoyed the better of the first half, but found it hard to get in behind the Honved defence. Alves was seeing little of the ball as he was well marked. The 3000+ crowd had little to chear about, and it was one of those matches, where Vidi could have attacked all evening without any reward. The game turned in the space of 5 second half minutes, with a double strike from Honved's Danilo. The first was a powerful shot from close range, while the second saw him wiggle his way inside the box before placing the ball into the corner of the net. It was a bad day at the office for Vidi, who will now brush themselves down and prepare for the next game.
