There was plenty of rain in the hours leading up to Sunday's league match at Kecskemet. It made the pitch virtually waterlogged in several areas as a result. It ended up making playing good football that much harder for both sides, but in the end it was Vidi that adapted better to the conditions.

There was a fast pace at the start of the game, with Kecskemet going close after 2 minutes. A powerful shot went just wide of Tujvel's goal. A Torghelle header went wide of the post a minute later as Vidi began to press. Rajczi released Burgos with a nice ball on 11 minutes, but the El Salvador player went very close to putting KTE ahead. The small crowd inside the ground witnessed an exciting start, but the water on the surface was dictating events. Videoton raced into the lead after 16 minutes through the head of defender Roland Juhasz. Gyurcso's ball in from close to the half way line, was met by the rising Juhasz who gave their keeper little chance.

The visiting supporters had more to cheer about six minutes later. Szolnoki hit a hopeful long range shot from the right, which somehow managed to beat Borszeki in the home goal. KTE's keeper really made a mess of things. It was also Szolnoki's first goal in the first division, and one he will not forget in a while. Kecskemet came more into the match following that goal. They also managed to score with a shot from the feet of Mohl, who gave his side some hope.

There were no changes by either manager at the break, as the second half kicked off in similar fashion to the first. The fast pace continued despite the terrible conditions, which the players had to endure. Gyurcso's good corner after 54 minutes found the head of Juhasz, whose header was parried by keeper Borszeki into the path of Torghelle, who made no mistake from close range. Vidi restored their two goal advantage to lead 3-1. Tujvel showed good reflexes to deal with a Mohl effort on the hour mark. 3-1 became 4-1 after Caneira lay the ball in to the path of Paraiba, whose good strike was only ever heading in one direction.

That gave the Brazilian player his first ever goal in Hungarian league football. There was still time for a penalty to the home team. However, Tujvel reacted very well to save from Mohl, to the delight of the 100+ Fehervar fans. The final scoreline of 5-1 was made possible through the head of Juhasz, who met a Gyurcso corner with his head on 87 minutes.

The three points virtually secured second spot for José Gomes' side and Europa league football from the 4th July. The fight is now on for third place, while Vidi will switch their attentions to next weekend's final home league game of the season against Pecs.
