A 4-0 away win at the home of Mohacsi sees Videoton through to the last 64.
Videoton played for the first time since 1982 at the home of Mohacsi TE in the Hungarian cup on Wednesday afternoon. Mohacsi were a strong second division side 35 years ago, but currently play their football in the local county first division. Many supporters made their way over to the Ujvarosi stadium, which was understandable as the last division one side to visit Mohacsi was 22 years ago when they defeated Kispest Honved 2-1.
Videoton went on the attack early on as Nego went down the right on 5 minutes, before sending in a good ball for Lazovic to shoot wide of the post from 7 meters. Lazovic then fed Szabo with a lovely ball a minute later and the youngster made no mistake to roll the ball into the back of the empty net (0-1). Krisztian Tamas then sent a powerful free kick from 25 meters into the ball, which took a deflection and clipped the foot of the left post. The action continued as Vidi tried to settle the tie early on. They doubled the lead after 21 minutes following a good ball from Kovacs, which found Tamas, who made no mistake to calmly find the bottom far corner and make it 0-2.
Videoton in their all white strip kept their foot on the pedal and remained active. However, the home side had a good chance after 31 minutes, when Zsombor Nagy brought a good save out of Tamas Horvath. A Szabo corner in the final minute of the first half resulted in Fejes scoring Vidi's third to see the teams go in at the break with Videoton leading 3-0.
There wasn't too much change to the shape of the game in the second period. It was Marko Nikolic' side that continued to control things with several good attacks. Nego got hold of the ball after 50 minutes inside the home teams half, and he played a one-two with Geresi before running at goal alone, but he was very unselfish and passed the ball to Lazovic, who let the ball continue on in the hope that Geresi would connect with it, but he did not arrive and the danger eased. Mate Pokos aimed for the near post after 56 minutes, but he could not beat Horvath in the Vidi goal, who pulled off a smart save.
Zsombor Nagy then found the back the net with 15 minutes remaining following a quick home attack, but linesman raised his flag and the goal was disallowed. Bence Szabo scored his second goal of the afternoon after 81 minutes after a Tamas cross from the left was headed nicely home (0-4). There was still time at the end for Lazovic to miss an open goal from close range after Geresi played him in with a pass. However, it did not change the outcome and it was Videoton that secured a comfortable 4-0 win to go through to the last 64.
