Heavy rain had lashed down on the Sostoi pitch in the hours leading upto Friday afternoon's league match with MTK. The weather was near perfect by the time the two teams kicked off at 17:00pm. The pitch looked nice and green, with three important points up for grabs. The pair went into the game level on points and both of them were eager to cut the gap with Győr at the top of the table.

Manager José Gomes chose a settled side with no major surprises. The game began at a good pace with Vidi going ahead inside 5 minutes. Nikolics escaped down the left hand side, before crossing the ball, but it fell slightly behind Kovacs, but nicely into the path of Mitrovics, who blasted the ball in just under the bar. Vidi continued to put their opponents under pressure over the first 20 minutes.

Kovacs and Gyurcso both had efforts, but they did not end up increasing the lead. MTK also had dangerous chances through Balajti and Wolfe. Nikolics could have made it 2-0 on the night, but he was ruled offside as the ball settled into the back of the net. Brachi saw his free kick deflected away from danger. Hidvegi had a
similar shot go wide of Bozsivics's goal.

Paraiba showed nice skills at the beginning of the second half. Gyurso also had an effort go over the bar. MTK made three substitutions in the space of the opening 20 minutes, as they tried their best to level the scores. Vadnai and Poloskei had long range shots, which were both unsuccessful. Vidi also tried to extend their slender lead through good work from Alvarez and then Nikolics. The Fehervar side then made the game safe close to full time. The goal came from a relieved Nikolics, who deserved his goal for his hard work and patience. Kanta almost brought MTK back in to the game, as his free kick hit a post. Referee Tamas Bognar eventually blew for full time, with three important league points confirming Vidi's place in the top three.
