"This win could give us a massive push"

Paulo Sousa spoke shortly after the final whistle following the big home win over Debrecen

Paulo Sousa: We managed to direct play throughout the match, and we also beat an important opponent, as I have said many times previously, Debrecen are a very serious club. I am sure that this win will give us a big push, and I would like to congratulate the players. We have played better than our opponents in several of the previous games, but we could not win, but today the good performance came together with the win. The team always tries to produce the best performance it can, but it is difficult to keep this level up, but we continue to work so that we can do it in each game. When we signed Istvan Kovacs, I said back then that we had signed perhaps the biggest talent over the last ten years. He showed exactly this in today's game. I am sure that he will have a very good international career ahead of him. His performances were up and down, but a player can develop a lot while learning. He still has lots to develop in his game. I am really happy that he plays in our team, and that we are talking about an exceptional player.

Kondás Elemér: Although we did not start too badly, we went on to play slowly for the majority of the first period. We gave the ball away a lot, and Videoton counter attacked us from these, which we tried to avoid. I felt that Bodi, Szakaly and Bouadla did not perform to their best in the first 45 minutes. We played better in the second half, but we should not have made the mistakes that we made. We have several defenders out injured, which is why I played Ibrahima Sidibe at the back. We were counting on Torghelle starting the match for Videoton, and this is how it turned out, and that we would be able to cope with his aerial ability through Sidibe. We did not have problems with this, but the poor defending from the whole team cost us the match. I felt after we scored the consolation that a draw was the minimium I could get from the team, but we conceded another goal at the worst time.
