We visit the home of tenth placed ZTE FC on Sunday

For the 95th time we will play Zalaegerszeg in the first division at the weekend.

On Sunday 1st December, at 17:00, we will meet ZTE FC for the 95th time in the first division. We have won 41 of the 94 matches played so far, with 28 draws and 25 Zala victories. The goal difference is 156-109 in our favour, which means an average of almost three goals per game.

Gábor Márton took over as manager of Zalaegerszeg during last season and finished 9th. The former Vidi manager stayed on for the 2024/2025 season and after 13 rounds, he and his team are in 10th place in the league with 3 wins, 4 draws and 6 defeats.

This season we have already played Zalaegerszeg once, that time we drew 1-1 at the Sósto. Their goal was scored by Csanád Vilmos Dénes, who used to be one of the main players of Vidi II, while Vidi's goal was scored by Patrik Kovács in the 95th minute.

The history of the two teams goes back a long time, we first played Zalaegerszeg in 1958. Back then, the two sides finished 1-1 in the NB II, at Berényi út, in front of 4500 spectators. Our first NB I match was against ZTE in Zalaegerszeg in 1972, which ended in a goalless draw. The teams' first NB I match in Székesfehérvár took place a year later, in April 1973, which we won 1-0 in Sóstó with a goal from Gábor Fejes.

Our biggest success came on 19th May 2004, when our team, which was led by János Csank, scored a double from Tibor Szabó and goals from Zsolt Dvéri, Tomás Medved and Gabriel Vochin to beat their opponents 5-0, who had won the gold medal in the first division two years earlier. We can also be proud of two four-goal margin victories against Vidi from the past; in 1983 we beat ZTE 5-1 and in 1987 4-0.

Two of our defenders have also played for Zalaegerszeg: Nikola Serafimov between 2021 and 2022, and András Huszti, who is currently on loan at Vidi.
