"We deserved the point we picked up at Újpest"

Our young goalkeeper - who wore the captain's armband for the first time and saved a penalty early in the game - assessed the match against Újpest.

When did you find out that you would be captaining the team against Újpest and what was it like to experience that?

When Áron Csongvai left, we already knew that a youngster would be the captain if Csabi Spandler couldn't play for some reason. But I only found out a few days ago that this young person would be me. At first I was very surprised, but I was also happy about the opportunity and I was very proud to captain Vidi against Újpest. In fact, I still need a few more days to fully realise what it all means and what kind of predecessors I was following in the footsteps of on Sunday afternoon.

The game didn't start well for us, as Újpest won a penalty in the 5th minute. Krisztofer Horváth stood behind the ball, but you made a great save. How do you remember the situation?

Before every match we analyse the players who could potentially take a penalty. Krisztofer Horváth is one of the most unpredictable penalty takers, often changing the direction of his kicks. I tried to be patient and wait for the moment of the kick and not to move too soon. Actually, I went with my instincts when I chose the side and I'm glad I managed to save the penalty.

By the break, the team was two goals down, just like in Kecskemét, but this time we also managed to collect a point. Did you believe all along that you could level the score at Újpest?

I think I can say on behalf of the whole team that we believed all along that we would not lose this afternoon. At the same time, we must not forget that we were two goals down in the first half for the second time in a short space of time. We definitely need to improve in playing with the same attitude from the start of the game as we did in Kecskemét and in the second half here in Újpest today. Obviously we go out on the pitch in every game with maximum concentration, but we still made a lot of mistakes in the first 45 minutes. However, the fact that we fought until the last minute and it is not the first time we have come back from two goals down says a lot about the team's composure. In the second half, we practically nailed Újpest to the door, scored a relatively early goal to get back into it and then had several chances to equalise. Balu Szabó's extra individual performance must be highlighted, first he outsmarted two Újpest defenders and then he scored a sensational goal - surely one of the most beautiful goals of the season. However, I wouldn't wish the four or five minutes after the goal on anyone, as we were unsure all the time what and why the VAR was checking for so long. In the end, everything worked out well and I feel we deserved to get the point at Újpest, especially in the second half.
