Vidi progress in to the final 16 of the Hungarian cup

A goal in each half secured a third round win for Videoton on Wednesday afternoon.

Videoton were in Hungarian cup round 3 action at the home of third division Andrashida. Heavy rain fell on the pitch as the temperature fell to the 10c mark.

The first chance fell to the visitors with Stopira crossing from the left, which was flicked on by Suljic from 11 meters out. Kovacs looked dangerous for the home side a few minutes later. His header went wide of the target as the action continued. Vidi went ahead on 14 minutes when Vinicius showed good movement to score. Gyurcso sent a high ball in to the box following a free kick from 35 meters out. The ball fell to the left of the area and a defender headed the ball in to the path of Vinicius, whose scissor kick shot went in just under the bar (0-1).

The tempo of the game eased with Suljic trying with an effort in the 20th minute. Keeper Osbath saved well to deny the Bosnian. Gyurcso then curled a free kick towards the top right corner minutes later. Danilovics saved a long range Kovacs shot after 24 minutes. The action continued with Oliveira playing in Feczesin, who turned his marker and shot just wide of the left hand post from 14 meters out. The final chance of the first half fell to Feczesin, but there were no further goals as the referee blew for half time.

The first minute of the second half saw Feczesin lay the ball in to the path of Gyurcso, who shot from 22 meters out, which produced a save from keeper Osbath. Simon then flicked the ball wide of the goal from 9 meters out moments later. Polareczki had a shot on goal for the home side, before Gyurcso was again involved in the thick of the action. He shot wide of the right post following a bounce and effort from 17 meters. Toth shot at goal following an Andrashida corner, which was taken by Szegleti. However, his shot from 10 meters out went over the bar. Suljic then sent a high ball in a couple of minutes later for the arriving Soumah to shot over. Vidi doubled their lead in the 81st minute. Kovacs went on a good individual run, before crossing the ball in to the middle, which was met by Szekeres, whose shot produced a very good save from Osbath. The rebound fell in to the path of Soumah, who made no mistake from close range to make it 0-2.

Oliveira went closest to extending the lead in the remaining 10 minutes. However, his shot was hacked of the line by a defender. The referee blew the final whistle and Videoton picked up a comfortable 2-0 away cup win. They now progress in to the final 16. The red and blues are next in OTP league action at the weekend with a home game against Honved.
