Goals from Nego and Houri gave Vidi an important away win on Sunday evening.
Vidi travelled to Mezokovesd in match 8 of the OTP league. It was also the 8th game between the two in the first division in Matyofold county. Vidi had only managed a single win in those games, which came in August 2017 and a 2-0 win with goals that day coming from Henty and Lazovic. Manager Gabor Marton fielded the following side: Rockov - Bolla, Musliu, Stopira, Fiola - Nikolov, Nego - Funsho, Houri, Petryak - Nikolic.
We started the game well directing things from virtually the first minute. Vidi gained possession in the 6th minute inside the home team's half. Petryak was played through down the left and he tried to cross from the goal line, but keeper Szappanos did very well to save. Berecz, at the other end, hit his shot over the bar with Rockov not called upon. Fiola's cross on 15 minutes was met by Houri, who from 8 meters, shot at goal but he brought a good save out of Szappanos. Ten minutes later and Petryak tried to supply Nikolic with a chance, but a home defender managed to clear the danger.
Rockov was first called upon after 28 minutes to save a long range strike from Cseri. The breakthrough for Vidi arrived after 32 minutes: Funsho flicking the ball to Bolla down the right, whose delicate cross into the middle was met by the unmarked Nego, who made no mistake from close range to make it 0-1.
In the 37th minute, Musliu fired from 14 meters at goal after a corner, which keeper Szappanos saved, then in the 41st minute, Nego's distant powerful strike was also blocked by the home goalkeeper.
During the break, neither manager made a change, and the image of the game did not alter in the first ten minutes. In the 53rd minute, Petryak got hold of the ball about 25 meters from the home goal, but he failed to pass accurately to our forwards, who arrived in the box with great momentum, but in the end the situation did not lead to a goal situation. At the other side there were two dangerous shots inside a minute: first Vutov was in position, from 14 meters, with tremendous power, barely shooting wide of our goal, then Berecz curled a shot from 22 meters to the top left, but the ball avoided our goal.
Due to many fouls that followed, there was no flow to the play, and referee Berke dealt five yellow cards during a 15 minute period of the match. In the 71st minute Petryak decided to shoot 20 meters from the home goal, with the ball going just wide. 78 minutes into the match Lakvekheliani's sent the ball into the middle for Cseri but he collided with Rockov and both required treatment, but were able to carry on.
Balazs Berke also awarded two penalties in the final minutes - both seemed justified. In the 82nd minute Farkas brought down Fiola, and Houri converted the penalty, then in the 87th minute Musliu handled the ball inside the box, and our former player Berecz Zsombor made no mistake from the spot (1-2).
The 3 minutes of injury time did not produce further goals, although Mezokovesd attacked, but in the 92nd minute we could have scored another goal, Petryak's 14-meter low shot just avoided the goal.
Our team will also be playing two games next week. On Wednesday at 12:30 we will be guests of Gardony in the MOL Hungarian Cup, then on Saturday at 19:30 we will host Ferencvaros at the MOL Arena Sosto.
