Vidi move up to fourth with a 3-0 win over Haladas

Second half goals from Stopira, Geresi and Feczesin secured the three points for Videoton.

Week 8 of the OTP league season saw Videoton take on Haladas at the Pancho Arena in Felcsut. Geza Meszoly's side arrived in third place having won their last four league matches. Videoton most recently eased passed Debrecen with a 5-1 scoreline. Two in form sides came face-to-face on Saturday evening. Three points for the red and blues would see them move further up the league table.

The first shot of the game fell to Oliveira after 5 minutes, but his effort went wide. The visitors had their first chance on 10 minutes, when Racz sent in a low cross for Sjoerd to shoot from close range, but that produced a smart stop from keeper Kovacsik. Kiraly in the visiting goal was alert to keep out a long range Oliveira shot after 22 minutes. while Lazovic saw his the ball deflect off a defender but go the wrong side of the post.

Oliveira remained in the thick of the action and he found the ball at his feet after 29 minutes inside the box. The winger perhaps took too long on the ball when well placed to shoot, and a defender managed to block and clear the danger. The action continued in a bright opening period, while the supporters inside the stadium ensured a good atmosphere. Iszai hit a long range shot after 37 minutes, but it did not cause any problems for Kovacsik. Sjoerd then pulled the ball back for Williams, who found himself with a good chance on goal from 16 meters, but Stopira was not going to be beaten and the defender blocked his strike. The end of the first half was closing in when Nego's cross was flicked on by Juhasz, into the path of Patkai, who headed straight at keeper Kiraly. The two sides went in at the break with the score at 0-0.

Niether manager made a change to his side at the break. There was not too long to wait for the important breakthrough. A corner from Lazovic on 51 minutes was headed out by a defender, but Nego hit a first time shot at goal from the edge of the box, which rebounded off a defender and into the path of Stopira, who from virtually on the goal line made things certain (1-0.)

A Sjoerd free kick on 53 minutes did not go too wide of the post for Haladas. Kiraly then spilled a ball 3 minutes later, which Feczesin responded to by turning and hitting a shot, which a defender connected with in front of goal. Kiraly was again on hand in the visiting goal to save a close range Juhasz header. A lovely cross by Geresi after 67 minutes found Lazovic, and his clean header fell into the hands of the big keeper. A sharp cross from Halmosi at the other end was met by Polgar, who aimed for the far post, but Kovacsik responded very well to get down and deny him. The second half had plenty of action and the game was made save on 72 minutes: Juhasz showed great skill to go on an individual dribble before finding Oliveira, and he sent in a ball to the far post, which Feczesin rose and connected with to head home from 3 meters! (2-0.) The players celebrated by pulling out the number 46 shirt, which belongs to Adam Simon, who had an operation in midweek and will now have a long road back to recovery. Keeper Gabor Kiraly suffered an injury with that second goal and he was replaced by Daniel Rozsa.

A great move after 85 minutes saw goal number 3: A Nego pass ended at the feet of Geresi, who showed great movement and skill to go past a defender and find the bottom right corner (3-0.) There was no further change to the score and Vidi picked up the three points to move up to fourth in the league table. They now travel to Pecs in midweek for a Hungarian Cup game on Wednesday.
