Vidi went down by a single first half goal on a disappointing evening at the MOL Arena Sosto.
In the final game of the 4th round of the MOL Hungarian Cup, our team hosted Puskás Akadémia, also in the top division at the MOL Arena Sósto. Our new head coach, former league champion and cup winner Szabolcs Huszti, sat on the bench of Vidi on Wednesday evening, and started the match with the following starting line-up: Kovács D. - Nego, Fiola, Stopira, Heister - Makarenko, Houri - Funsho, Bumba, Schön - Kodro. Before the game, our new sporting director Roland Juhász congratulated our season ticket holder Tamás Rózsi on her 91st birthday!
The first chance went to Slagveer for the Felcsút side in the 6th minute, but his shot was blocked by Heister. The game was 12 minutes old when Houri's free-kick was met by Funsho's 8-metre header, which was bravely saved by Markek and five minutes later Stopira was also in the thick of the action after another set piece, but his right-footed shot was not powerful enough and Markek saved it too. Unfortunately, in the 24th minute Puljic scored a good goal from 13 metres out after Favorov's cross (0-1).
In the 33rd minute, Funsho moved promisingly down the right and his cross was good, but Kodro's effort bounced wide. There was also a smart Markek shot, Nego's fine cross was headed at goal by Schön from 7 meters, but the Puskas goalkeeper made a great point blank save Finally in the 45th minute Gruber headed wide. Bumba's cross was the final chance of the first half but our Romanian midfielder could not find the net.
The match continued in the second half without substitutions, and the first shot was Gruber's after a clearance, but the young striker's 20-metre shot was saved by Dániel Kovács. In the 57th minute, Kodro's shot was blocked for a corner and then Stopira collided with Markek, but after short treatment both continued the match. In the 59th minute Bumba was replaced by Pokorny. After the substitution, Kodro, with a move similar to Puljic's, would have put the ball in the net, but Stronati made a great clearnace with his head. At the end of the action Funsho headed wide of the goal from close range. In the 66th minute Colley had pulled away on the right, his cross was met by Komáromi, but Nego did well to make a last minute save. Two minutes later, Tamás Kiss, also a substitute, nodded a shot over Kovács goal.
In the 70th minute Makarenko was replaced by his compatriot Lednev. The game was in the 80th minute when Schön's sharp centre was missed by inches by Kodro and Funsho in front of the Puskás Akadémia goal. In the 84th minute, Colley placed the ball poorly from a set-piece and Kovács was able to save. We were already in the first minute of extra time when Kodro headed over the goal from 7 metres. But the score remained the same until the end of the six-minute extra time, and we said goodbye to the MOL Hungarian Cup.
