Vidi end 2020 with a comfortable 3-0 win

Goals from Funsho (2) and Petryak secured the 3 points on Friday evening against Kisvarda.

In the final match of 2020, we hosted Kisvarda Master Good at the MOL Arena Sosto. Kisvarda went into the match two places behind us, before the 16th round sitting in 4th position in the OTP Bank League table. They were also only 3 points behind us. This meant that our opponents could have gone level on points today with a possible win. Our match against Kisvarda was postponed earlier in the autumn season, so this was the first clash between the two teams. It is interesting that Kisvarda suffered its last defeat against Ferencvaros, which was 9 matches ago.

Manager Gabor Marton chose the following eleven: Rockov - Bolla, Rus, Stopira, Hangya - Alef, Pinto - Petryak, Houri, Funsho - Zivzivadze. His team made a very good start with the first of many chances arriving as early as 17 seconds: Petryak getting hold of the ball inside the Kisvarda half before finding Zivzivadze, who shot low inside the box, but keeper Minca was alert to it. A 6th minute Petryak corner was flicked on by Pinto before landing in front of Stopira, but his shot went over from close range. Vidi went ahead on the evening a minute later: Houri finding Petryak with a pass on the right, who played it on to Zivzivadze. The forward played a low ball across the face of the goal to the waiting Funsho, who made no mistake in finding the net (1-0).

Sassa gained possession of the ball for the visitors on 19 minutes before looking up and aiming for the bottom left. However, his effort was saved by keeper Rockov. Not long after and Bolla tried to bring Funsho in to a move down the right, but the ball rebounded off the leg of a defender and Funsho could not make contact with it. Houri sent his left footed shot after 23 minutes just wide of the target. Hangya played a high ball forward on 36 minutes, and his ball to the arriving Petryak tricked Hej, before shooting from a tight angle, which keeper Minca eventually saved.

A minute later and Datkovic handled, which gave Vidi a free kick. Houri's shot from 20 meters rebounded off the wall and out for a corner. Alef went on a run close to half time before shooting at goal from 17 meters. The two sides went in at half time with Vidi leading by the single goal.

The second half started similarly to the first with the only difference being that it took just 16 seconds for Petryak to latch onto a long ball from Rus down the right, and half volley a good shot past the keeper from a tight angle (2-0).

Rockov was able to deal with an effort from Kovacsreti after 54 minutes with his cross come shot not causing too many problems. A 61st minute Houri free kick was flicked on by Rus before landing in the arms of Minca. A minute later and Funsho pressed forward from midfield with three against two. He played it to his right and into the path of Petryak, but his centre was saved by Minca. Navratil sent a high ball forward after 64 minutes, which was punched clear by Rockov.

Hej fouled Petryak on 70 minutes, who was looking to break free on goal. That saw him see yellow for the second time in the game as Kisvarda were reduced to 10 men. Nikolic came on for Zivzivadze before the resulting free kick. Szilveszter Hangya curled the free kick just over the goal. Rubus did not clear the ball well after 80 minutes for the visitors. The ball landing in front of Nikolic inside the box, but our forward hit his volley straight at the keeper. A good move involving Houri, Petryak and Nikolic after 82 minutes did not produce the deserved goal as Houri sent his shot the wrong side of the post from 14 meters.

Geresi replaced Petryak after 83 minutes. Vidi still had time to score a third and make it a convincing win after 87 minutes: Pinto's ball in was headed by a defender and it fell to Funsho at the far post, who calmly aimed for the bottom corner to make it two goals from him (3-0). There were no further goals as Vidi ended 2020 with a good 3-0 win.
