A good 3-0 win over division two side Dunaujvaros kicked off Vidi's group stage in the league cup.
Vidi kicked off their league cup group stage with a good 3-0 win over Dunaujvaros on Wednesday afternoon. The two sides had already met in the summer friendly match, which saw José Gomes' side emerge 4-0 winners in that game. The supporters inside the Sostoi did not have too long to wait for the first goal. There were just 20 seconds on the watch when Lupeta found the back of Milinte's net to give Vidi the lead.
Paraiba did very well to set up the forward, who kept his composure to score. Vidi had the game in their hands and were in control of things. The visitors remained active between the 15th and 20th minutes, but the central defensive partnership of Tar and Gyepes looked solid.
Paraiba increased the lead on 34 minutes with a goal. The young forward got hold of the ball on the half way line, before going on a 30 meters run, which resulted in a great goal from 14 meters out (2-0). There were several good attacks in the remaining minutes of the first period, with Paraiba looking a threat. The visitors did put the ball in the back of the net on 44 minutes, but Jakab's effort was ruled offside by the match officials.
There were no changes at the break by either manager. Gyurcso almost made it three after 50 minutes, but his free kick from 25 meters rattled the crossbar. Vidi continued to dominate and both Gyepes and Paraiba both made keeper Milinte work in the visitors goal. Brachi took a free kick after 79 minutes, which Milinte palmed away for a corner. Gyurcso nicely curled the corner towards goal, which was well met by Tar, who headed it in from close range to make it 3-0. The match ended with a lovely scissor kick from Torghelle, which failed to find the net.
Vidi comfortably won this cup match, with some attractive football in periods of the game. The other result in the group ended 4-2 to Paks against Kozarmisleny.
