Managing Director Mark Tassy and club captain Balazs Toth handed a bouquet of flowers to Laszlonet Kovari, before kick off, who after 18 years of great service to the club, will now be retiring. Győri ETO were the opponents for the second time in the space of 4 days. Sunday's OTP league match ended in a 1-1 draw at ETO park. Manager José Gomes said several times that this match would be different, with it being a cup tie. The game began with the visitors concentrating on getting men behind the ball and defending. Vidi started at a good tempo, which saw them go on the attack from the opening minutes. Nikolics had a promising chance after 10 minutes but his shot flew over the bar. He also saw his powerful shot flagged for offside. There were further long range shots from Mitrovics and Gyurcso, while young Zsoter also tested the keeper from distance. Either Győr shot stopper Stevanovic was well positioned or the shot was off target.

Győr stole the lead with virtually their first chance. Strestik kept his calm to place the ball into the bottom of the net, after a quick build up. The picture of the game continued as it had been before the goal. Győr defended, while Vidi continued to attack their guests. However, they were forced to hit several shots from long range. Vidi could not find a way past the defence despite being on top. The two sides went in at the break with the score at 0-1.

The second period began as the first had. Győr were pushed back into defending with the main threat coming from Roland Juhasz, who José Gomes switched from central defence to attack. He eventually went back to defending as the game went on, but his presence caused problems for the visiting defenders. He scored in the 6-0 home win over Siofok, and went ever so close with a rasping shot, which came crashing back off the crossbar. Gyurcso saw his cross cleared, before both Vitor Gomes and Mitrovics tried their luck from outside the box. Győr then doubled their lead midway through the second half. They broke away quickly, and played some good football, which ended with Tokodi sweeping home a low shot past Bozsovics.

Vidi tried hard to get back into the match despite being two down. Alvarez came on to add more options to the attacking side of the game, before he was joined by Paraiba, who added pace. Torghelle was also brought on as manager José Gomes looked to get his side a consolation goal or even better. It was not to be as the visitors held off the pressure. The second leg will be played in Győr on the 8th May, with Vidi having their work cut out to make it into the final.
