Injury, own goal, posts, red cards and a winning goal in the 93rd minute. The two teams contributed to a real top of the table clash, which the Budapest side ended up being the happier.
Manager Henning Berg made one change to his team compared to the one that played a week ago at Paks. Jozsef Varga was replaced in midfield by Roland Szolnoki. Fomer Vidi legend Gabor Fejes celebrated his 70th birthday before the match. There was a good atmosphere inside the Pancho Arena in what was a top of the table clash.
It was the visitors who got off on the better foot and had more of the possession in the opening moments. Vinicius brought down Remili after 5 minutes just outside the box. He picked himself up and curled a lovely free kick into the back of the net. (0-1). It was the first conceded goal for Adam Kovacsik after 449 minutes. Visiting keeper Nagy then saved comfortably after 13 minutes following a Scepovic shot. Patkai went down the right a minute later, before squaring the ball into the middle for the arriving Scepovic, but the keeper managed to intercept and clear the ball. The action continued with a 17th minute Scepovic header going over the bar from close range
There was bad news for Vasas after Remili suffered an injury and was forced to come off. Vidi had their fourth corner of the game on the half hour mark, which saw Stopira head at goal from 8 meters. However, defender Vasko cleared the danger with his head. The final action of the first period fell to Vasas and Zsombor Berecz, who powerfully shot at goal and the ball clipped the bar.
The supporters were thinking about half time when Lazovic found Scepovic with a good ball, and he played it on to Suljic on the left wing, who sent in a powerful low cross, which Vasas player Burmeister connected with and put into his own net (1-1). The teams went into the dressing rooms at the break with the score level.
Vasas player Adam had a good chance at the start of the second half, but he could not control the ball well and the chance was missed. A 66th minute Adam shot rebounded off Vinicius, but Kovacsik was again well placed to save. Berecz was again unlucky to his the woodwork 7 minutes later from long range. Kovacsik managed to get his hand to it and the ball bounced off the left post. It was another important save from the Videoton goalkeeper.
Both teams were reduced to 10 men after 78 minutes by the most experienced match official. Vasas player Hangya was shown a red together with Lazovic as the two clashed on the ball. Vasas were reduced to nine men when James Manjrekar was shown his second yellow. Hadzic put in a cross on 85 minutes, which flew past the far post and over the head of Scepovic.
There was last minute drama with most people expecting the game to end in a draw. It was Vasas who scored an injury time goal from substitute Murka to win the match 2-1. Honved won 1-0 away at Haladas to overtake Vidi and go top of the OTP league table.
Vidi are next in action on Wednesday evening with a trip to Gyirmot.
