The two managers spoke after Friday evenings game
Gyorgy Mezey: "Congratulations to Honved! We failed to take the chances that came our way in the first 20-25 minutes, with our opponents defending in numbers for almost the whole match, and defended very well. The managed to win the game from two deflections. We had no luck and Honved showed their better side today, and moved with lots of energy. They were unusually strong and aggressive, and at times very hard. They managed to play and also stop our attacks. I wouldn't say that they looked like scoring, and they coped with our attacks, apart from the first 15 minutes. I will not blame my players, who fought and battled and continued to go forward, which resulted in mistakes. We didin't manage to get anything today and nothing really went our way, but every team will have games like today's."
Massimo Morales: "Naturally, I am really happy with the result today, as we managed to beat perhaps the best team in the country, on their own pitch. We knew that we had to prepare very well for the game from a tactical point of view, as Videoton have good players in each position. We planned to not leave to much space for them, as they would take advantage of that. At the same time it was important for us not to concede a goal in the first 15-20 minutes. My players became more confident as the game went on. We wanted to carry on in the second half where we left off in the first. However, we also had to try and attack, as we would have had no chance for the win. The home team really came at us after we went into a two goal lead, but luckily the majority of those attacks were not too dangerous, even if they did have many corners. I can only praise my team today and be proud of them, that I can be the manager of a side like this. We picked up an important win, but I am not surprised, as we have picked up 3 points against big sides like Ferencvaros, Zalaegerszeg, Debrecen and now Videoton. Today's win proves that we are on a good road."
