Report: Vidi pick up an away win at Budafok

Goals from Zivzivadze and a Zsori own goal gave Vidi the 3 points in the 2-1 win.

The final match of week 25 saw Vidi make the visit to Budafok on Sunday evening. The home side are battling to remain in the league, while we are looking to take back second place. Keeper Daniel Kovacs was forced to miss the game having pulled his thigh muscle in the midweek draw with Paks. That meant caretaker manager Tamas Szalai chose the following side: Rockov - Nego, Rus, Stopira, Hangya - Alef, Fiola - Funsho, Nikolic, Petryak - Zivzivadze.

The match started with a couple of offside decisions with first Nikolic trying to play in Zivzivadze but the assistant raised his flag. Then a shot from Kovacs was well saved by Rockov. Again the official blew for offside. With 12 minutes on the clock, the ball fell to Funsho inside the box following a pass by Hangya, but his header from 15 meters was collected by home keeper Bese. Vidi took the lead 5 minutes later when Nikolic controlled the ball well and brought Zivzivadze into play, who shot from 20 meters into the back of the net. It was a very good strike from the Georgian to put Vidi 1-0 up.

Budafok tried to get back into the game and they nearly managed this after 25 minutes. Nego bringing down Csonka inside the penalty area and the referee pointed at the spot. Budafok forward David Kovacs stood behind the ball but his low shot was really well tipped away by Rockov. A 32nd minute cross from Nego was met by Petryak, but his volley went wide of the target. Not long later and Rus also sent his header over the bar from 8 meters out.

The home side drew level after 40 minutes following a quick throw that fell to Kovacs, whose pass to Skribek was met with a shot from 14 meters, which eluded Rockov and landed in the back of the net (1-1).

The teams went in at the break with the score level at 1-1. The first chance of the second half fell to Vidi. A cross from substitute Bolla was headed over by Nikolic. At the other end, Kovacs shot wide from 11 meters. Skribek tried following a long ball on 62 minutes, but he could not connect with the ball. Nikolic then found himself with a chance on goal, but he chose to pass instead of shoot from a tight angle. The ball eventually failing to find Zivzivadze. We went very close to taking the lead after 72 minutes when Nikolic recieved a good ball but keeper Bese was equal to it and saved. Pinto tried to connect with the rebound, but it was blocked by a home player. Petryak sent in a good cross after 75 minutes, which the keeper collected ahead of Nikolic. Petryak 'disappeared' following a cross by Bolla with Huszti appearing to bring him down, but the penalty was not awarded.

Vidi went ahead for the second time on the evening: Houri taking a free kick from the wing, which was met by Zsori who scored an own goal (1-2).

Vidi comfortably held on to the lead with Budafok unable to get through the visiting defence. The final whistle blew and the 3 points went to Fehervar following a 2-1 scoreline. The two sides will meet again on Wednesday in Szekesfehervar. That match will be for a place in the semi-final of the MOL Hungarian Cup.
