Report: Friendly 2-1 win against Lafnitz

Vidi's goals came from Levente Szabo and Istvan Kovacs in Thursday's pre-season friendly.

The first match of the Austrian training camp took place on 17th June at 17:30 in Rohrbach an der Lafnitz, behind closed doors. Our opponent was SV Lafnitz from the Austrian second division. Manager Imre Szabics chose: Kovácsik - Kojnok, Lüftner, Dinnyés, Horváth Barnabás - Dárdai, Alef, Houri, Evandro - Kovács, Szabó as his starting eleven. We had to wait until the 6th minute for our first big chance, when Alef turned towards goal from the edge of the box, but his powerful shot was deflected off an Austrian full-back. After ten minutes, the hosts could not clear, Konjok found Kovács on the right side of the pitch, who sent a well-paced shot from a tight angle to Leventé Szabó, who fired into the back of the net from about ten metres (0-1).

Some ten minutes later Levente Szabó tried again, this time from the left of the penalty area, but Zingl got down to collect the ball. In the 26th minute we saw a Kovácsik smart save after a long time - our goalkeeper returning to the pitch after 232 days out injured, and the first serious test came from Fadinger, but a quick darting shot from 13 metres out was well saved.

In the 30th minute, however, the Vidi keeper was helpless, after Siegl's cross, Kröpl struck the ball low into the bottom left corner from about 11 meters (1-1). Two minutes later, Evandro played a one-two with István Kovács into a corner and the referee ruled that there had been a foul. After short treatment our Brazilian forward was able to continue the game. In the 38th minute we took the lead again! Houri broke forward through the middle and found István Kovács who calmly slotted the ball into the net from eight yards (1-2).

At the break, both manager's made changes with the Vidi team continuing the match with Dániel Kovács - Péter Kövesdi, Rus, Vágó, Zeke - Funsho, Bourard, Ruben Pinto, Petrjak - Tamás Tóth, Zivzivadze.

Lafnitz had the first chance of the second half in the 56th minute, but Gremsl volley wide. For about ten minutes after that, the game was played mainly in the middle of the pitch but then Ruben Pinto registered a long-range effort, which was saved, and soon afterwards the Yellows substitute, Hermann headed at goal from close range. In the 76th minute, Vágó found himself in a great position but his 12-yard shot was saved by the home goalkeeper, and a minute later Budu Zivzivadze almost scored with the keeper beaten but his close range shot went past the right post. Gremsl got into position in injury time, but Dani Kovács made another fine save to give us a 2-1 win against Lafnitz from the Austrian second division.
