Funsho's goal was answered by Szélpál in injury time as both teams picked up one point.
In the 12th round of the OTP Bank Liga we hosted Paksi FC in the MOL Arena Sósto on Saturday afternoon. Szabolcs Huszti was in charge of Vidi for the first time in the NB I, and he started the game with the eleven of Kovács D. - Nego, Larsen, Stopira, Heister - Fiola, Lednev - Funsho, Houri, Schön - Kodro. Stopira played his 250th NB I match against Paks - of course, he played in a Vidi shirt on each occasion.
Former Vidi player Róbert Waltner and Paks manager named Bálint Szabó and Zsolt Haraszti in the starting line-up, and in the first quarter of an hour the teams were mostly battling for possession on the pitch. In the 16th minute, Szélpál headed from 8 metres following a corner from Paks, but Kovács saved confidently. A minute later, Kodro would have put a cross in from the right, but the defenders saved. 24 minutes into the match, Kodro flicked on a second Vidi corner, and Funsho missed the target from close range. A minute later, Balogh's shot from distance was saved by Kovács.
After half an hour of play, Lednev powered a 17-metre shot over the Paks goal. In the 35th minute, a dangerous corner from Paks was blocked by a nice reflex save from Kovács in front of goal. In the 44th minute, Fiola left his man after a cross from Heister and passed into the middle, where Funsho covered the ball well and curled the ball into the bottom corner from eight metres (1-0)! And the first period ended with a quick counter-attack, Schön's shot not threatening the goal.
Bese Barnabás came on for Kasper Larsen at the break. Attila Fiola came in at centre-back and Loic Nego pushed up in midfield, with Bese coming in at right-back. In the 49th minute, Houri's free-kick from Nego was headed wide by Stopira, who flicked his back-footer wide of the goal. Ten minutes into the second half, Lednev's free-kick found Stopira but unfortunately he missed the goal by inches. In the 60th minute, Houri confidently fired a free-kick from 30 yards out but failed to find the net.
Ten minutes later Haraszti attempted a shot but Kovács was again on the spot. Róbert Waltner tried to shake up his team with a triple substitution, including János Hahn, the top scorer of the 2020/2021 season. In the 82nd minute, he was the one to power over the goal from 13 metres out. A minute later Funsho, who scored in the first half, left the pitch and was replaced by Bumba. In the 85th minute, Szélpál's header from Paks' 10th corner kick went over the crossbar. Pokorny came on for Lednev for the last two minutes of normal time and injury time. In the 93rd minute, Szélpál's third header from the 12th corner kick found its way into the goal (1-1). Soon after, the referee called the match off, and we picked up one point at home against FC Paks.
