The goals of Soma Novothny and Sebestyén Ihrig-Farkas decided the game, Nikola Serafimov's sending off meant that we finished the game with ten men.
In the 11th round of the OTP Bank Liga our team played Vasas FC on Saturday evening at the Illovszky Rudolf Stadium. Michael Boris went for Kovács D. - Bese, Serafimov, Larsen, Hangya - Makarenko, Fiola - Nego, Houri, Dárdai - Kodro as the starting eleven, while the home team had Vidi's 2018 league champion Krisztián Géresi, 2019 cup winner Zsombor Berecz and Vidi's Máté Ódor on the pitch from the first minute.
The first shot in the 9th minute was by Géresi, but our former player couldn't find the goal from 17 meters, then in the 13th minute a good left-wing cross by Hangya was headed at goal by Nego, but Jova was on the spot. Three minutes later, a close-range shot from Holender, who had started the season in very good form, was saved by Kovács, and on the counter-attack his colleague Jova also proved his worth, saving his team from a goal after Ódor's unfortunate intervention. In the 24th minute, Nego was on the end of a cross from Bese, but his shot missed the target, and in the 27th minute, Dárdai's shot was blocked by the Angyalföld players, while Houri fired over the top from distance.
Half an hour into the match, both Hangya and Dárdai's crosses were looking for Kodro, our winger's cross was inches ahead of our striker and our left-back's ball was not well headed by the Bosnian striker. But in the 36th minute, despite our dominance in the pitch, Soma Novothny, who was completely empty in the middle, gave Vasas the lead after a quick counterattack after Holender's accurate pass (1-0). In the 44th minute, Vasas threatened their own goal again - Bese's sharp cross bounced over Iyinbor. After the corner kick, Holender was again fouled from a counter-attack, Fiola made a great save. Balázs Berke blew the first period after a minute of extra time.
None of the head coaches made any changes at the break. The first real chance of the second half came 13 minutes later, when Dárdai fired the ball into Jová after a great clearance from Kodro. Shortly afterwards, Dárdai's header flew over the goal. In the 66th minute, Dárdai was about to shoot after Nego's centre, but Otigba's foot slowed the ball down and Jova saved easily. Two minutes later, Michael Boris made two changes: Bumba and Funsho replaced Makarenko and Barnabas Bese. In the 70th minute, Serafimov tripped Novothny on the halfway line and received his second yellow card, and of course a red card at the same time.
In the 73rd minute, Nego tripped Rado and received a yellow card, and Holender curled a free kick 18 metres from goal over the top. Three minutes later, one of the home substitutes, Ihrig-Farkas, tested Kovács, and a minute later, after a corner, he headed over from close range. In the 83rd minute, however, the Angyalföld striker made no mistake, Radó started from his own half and then passed to Ihrig-Sebestyén, who had no particular problem as he just had to roll the ball into the empty goal (2-0). After the goal, Hangya, Houri and Dárdai were replaced by Heister, Pokorny and Ákos Szendrei, who was making his debut in a league match for Vidi. The last five minutes passed quietly, we suffered a two-goal defeat at Fáy Street. We will next play on Wednesday, at the MOL Arena Sósto, in the MOL Hungarian Cup at 20:00 against Puskás Akadémia.
