Report: Club record and victory in Gyirmot

Nemanja Nikolic broke József Szabó's record, and then scored another beautiful goal, as we won 2-0 away on Saturday.

In the 25th round of the OTP Bank Liga our team played Gyirmót FC Győr on Saturday afternoon. Michael Boris started the match with the eleven of Kovács D. - Rus, Stopira, Shabanov - Nego, Dárdai, Fiola, Makarenko, Hangya - Nikolic, Kodro. Peter Zulj missed out with a positive PCR test, Ivan Petryak was not in the squad due to a knee injury. Our team captain was Nemanja Nikolic and Attila Fiola was playing his 300th NB I match.

The game started well, and produced a club record, as in the second minute Nikolic volleyed Kodro's cross into the net (0-1)! It was our captain's 112th goal in a Vidi shirt, thus consigning to the past the record of our legendary striker József Szabó. The home side then tried to score, including a shot by our on-loan player Márió Zeke in the 21st minute, but the ball missed our goal, and in the 23rd minute Nagy's cross was intercepted by Dániel Kovács.

But after half an hour of play, home keeper Rusák was helpless for the second time - who else but Niko scored his second (and 113th), after a great ball from Rus and a neat lob over the home goalkeeper (0-2). The Romanian international defender had to receive treatment later and was replaced by Barnabás Bese, and the first half was rounded off by a Niko shot, saved by Rusák.

At the break Michael Boris made no changes, but Aurél Csertői made two substitutions, Patrik Nagy and Vidi-born Major Martin were replaced by Cvetanovski and Szegi. In the first minutes of the half, the home side were able to take three corners in a short space of time, but none of them resulted in a dangerous situation, and in the 61st minute Hasani's cross was cleared by Bese.

In the 75th minute Kodró was replaced by Norbert Szendrei, five minutes later after Dárdai's corner Stopira's header was saved by Rusák, and after the second corner kick Bese's shot was saved by the home goalkeeper. Club record signing Nikolic was replaced by Funsho, Dárdai was replaced by Bohdan Lednev and in the last minute of normal time, Makarenko's long-range effort was saved by Rusák. In extra time, Simon's 20-metre strike gave Dániel Kovács some work, but our victory was not in danger, we won 2-0 in Gyirmot, and Nemanja Nikolic broke József Szabó's NB I goal record!
