Report: Away victory at the home of Mezőkövesd

Vidi picked up all three points following a 2-1 away win on Sunday afternoon.

In the 28th round of the OTP Bank Liga our team played at the home of Mezőkövesd. Michael Boris started the game with Kovács D. - Rus, Stopira, Shabanov - Nego, Pinto, Zulj, Heister - Kodro, Funsho - Nikolic, while Árpád Tordai, who was on loan with Vidi in the spring, was the goalkeeper for Mezőkövesd.

The home side started the match more actively, Shabanov had to correct his own mistake after the kick off, and in the fifth minute Jurina's shot missed the target. A minute later, Madarász's long-range free-kick went wide of Kovács's goal, and after almost ten minutes Zulj's shot did not pose problems at the other end. In the 17th minute, however, we scored from our first serious chance, as Nego's cross from the right was met by Kodro, who was well placed to send it into the back of the net from close range (0-1)

Seven minutes after taking the lead, a Vajda attempt was saved by Kovács, then Cseke kicked Funshó on the ground, but he escaped without a card. In the 45th minute, Jurina slipped inside our penalty area in a great position, but we were short of luck in injury time, when Vajda's cross was slid into the net by Drazic (1-1).

At the break, neither head coach made any changes, a dangerous home cross in the 47th minute was cleared and Funsho scored in the 49th minute, but unfortunately the goal was preceded by a challenge. In the 55th minute, VAR was needed again following a Vidi attack, but eventually Mezőkövesd did not have the penalty go against them. In the 70th minute Michael Boris made two substitutions, Dárdai and Petryak came on for Nikolic and Funsho. Dárdai could have scored from his first touch of the ball after Kodro set him up with a header, but his shot was saved by Tordai. Petryak, however, scored a superb goal in the 77th minute, as the Ukrainian winger headed in Nego's right-wing cross from 17 metres out (1-2)!

After the goal, Rúben Pinto was replaced by Makarenko in the latter part of the second half. In the 87th minute, Kovács was on hand to deal with Vajda's 14-yard shot. In the second minute of the five-minute extra time, Stopira saved from the goal line following a corner, but we finally got a free kick as Dániel Kovács had been fouled before. In the 94th minute, Petryak was in a great position, but his shot into the middle was saved by Árpád Tordai. In the final moments, Negó was replaced by Barnabás Bese, and shortly afterwards Ferenc Karakó blew for full time and we took all three points from Mezőkövesd!
