Report: 3-2 home win over Gyirmót despite being a man down

In the 14th round of the OTP Bank League Gyirmót FC Győr visited the MOL Arena Sóstó. Prior to the game, Aurél Csertői's team sat in 10th place in the table. We went into the match in 4th position. This time, head coach Imre Szabics sent out the eleven of Kovács D. - Nego, Musliu, Stopira, Heister - Dárdai, Alef, Makarenko, Petryak - Nikolic, Kodro. 

In the first 5 minutes we had two small chances, first after a free kick keeper Hársfalvi fisted the ball away from Stopira, then Makarenko's shot from 18 meters was saved by the young goalkeeper who once played for our team. In the 9th minute, Varga handled a cross, which saw Ádám Farkas award a penalty, which Nikolic confidently struck into the bottom right corner (1-0).

In the 22nd minute Dárdai's cross was headed wide by Niko, while 4 minutes later Petryak's free kick was cleared away by Hársfalvi in front of the penalty area. Then Nego powered over the goal from 25 metres. In the 35th minute, the visitors also had a penalty, Radics was brought down by Musliu, the referee awarded a penalty with the help of VAR and our defender was given a yellow card, his second, which meant he would not play any further. Barnabás Varga shot into the middle of the goal past Kovács, who moved to his left, and Gyirmót equalised (1-1).

Lüftner came on for Nikolic after the goal, and there were no further chances in the first half, the teams went in at the break with the score 1-1.

At the start of the second half Radics fouled Kodro inside the penalty area, and the referee awarded another penalty, again with the help of VAR. Kodro picked himself up and made no mistake (2-1).

Gyirmót could have answered almost immediately after the kick-off, but Simon's shot was saved by Kovács in the bottom left corner. In the 58th minute, first Makarenko's shot was well saved by Hársfalvi, then Petryak shot from an acute angle into the side netting. At the end of the counter-attack, again Dániel Kovács had a job to do and he did it. In the 61st minute, Hársfalvi was at work again, this time beating Dárdai's shot away. A minute later Varga headed a corner over the goal. After another two minutes Lüftner headed over from a great position. In the 71st minute Petryak was replaced by Hangya due to injury, while in the 77th minute Dárdai hit the near post from 16 yards, the rebound was headed over by Nego. 

In the 84th minute, Makarenko sent a great ball to Hangya on the left wing, who played a perfectly paced cross to the middle, and Kodro converted it into the goal (3-1)!

In the 86th minute, first Nagy's effort was saved by Kovács, then Varga shot wide of the bottom left from 16 metres. Halfway through the 4-minute added time, Lencse's ball was converted into the bottom left corner by Varga from 14 metres, making it 3-2. In the last moments the result remained the same, we beat Gyirmót after an hour of being a man-down.
