Paks hit a 96th winner to leave us pointless

We took the lead in the first half with a Holender goal, but the visitors responded with a penalty in the second half after a VAR decision. In injury time, Paks scored the winning goal after a counterattack.

In the 8th round of the OTP Bank Liga NB I, Paksi FC visited the Sóstói Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Both teams were defeated in the last round, our team in Felcsút and Paks away in Győr. This time, head coach Tamás Pető opted for the eleven of Dala - Simut, Serafimov, Spandler, Milicevic - Larsen - Holender, Csongvai, Melnyik, Stefanelli - Gradisar.

Gradisar had to be treated in the first minute, but fortunately our striker was not injured in the collision with Kinyik and was able to continue the game. In the 4th minute Gradsisar was set up by Larsen and he powered over from 18 yards. In the 12th minute, Dala showed a good bravery: Mezei played in Ötvos, who was clear on goal, but Dala denied him and tipped the ball away for a corner.

Seven minutes later, the visitors again threatened, Haraszti curled in a free kick inside the box, Szabó's header over the top. At the other end, Milicevic and Papp clashed as they fought for the ball, and the home side had a free kick, which Larsen headed towards goal from 14 metres, Simon headed over from a corner. In the 33rd minute, Dala had to save again as Győrfi shot from 11 metres. Five minutes before the break, Barna Tóth took a shot from 34 metres out that went over the top bar. In the 45th minute, we took the lead with a rarely seen big goal: Filip Holender struck the ball into the net from 19 metres out (1-0).

After the half time break we had the first chance, Milán Pető fooled two defenders with a through ball, his 18-metre powerful shot was palmes away to the side by Simon. In the 51st minute, Paks came close to equalizing: Pető fouled inside the box and the referee awarded a penalty! Windecker hit the penalty onto the right post, the rebound was saved by Dala. After the incident, the VAR reviewed another possible penalty, but in the end, based on replays, there was no foul.

After ten minutes we could have doubled our lead, Gradisar and Katona put pressure on the visiting goal, the latter was in position but his shot hit the left post. In the 71st minute, Győrfi won a free kick near the touchline, at the end of the move Ötvös' shot was pushed away by Dala. However, after a lengthy VAR review, Simut was adjudged to have handled by the video referee, who called the referee to look at the incident, and Karakó again pointed to the penalty spot after reviewing the situation. This time Ötvös stood behind the ball and calmly scored. (1-1).

A few minutes later, we were down a man, Larsen pulled down Windecker and Karakó showed our defender a second yellow card. After the 80th minute, Vidi went forward in search of the winning goal: First Simon saved Katona's long-range shot, then our midfielder had another chance from 14 metres, but Simon saved again, then Pető crossed to Stefanelli, who rose high and volleyed at goal in a great position.

Stefanelli could have scored again in the 93rd minute, but his header was off target again, and on the other end Zimonyi threatened at the end of a counter attack, but no goal was scored. The game was not over yet, however, as in the 96th minute Windecker found the net from 17 metres out after a counter-attack to make the final score 1-2.

Our team will play next Saturday at 14:30 at the home of newcomer ETO FC Győr.
