Newly promoted Kisvarda are the first opponents for Vidi in the new season

Vidi will kick off against first division newcomers for the second season running.

The 16000 populated Szabolcs town’s side have only spent 2 seasons in the second division since the formation of Vidi and from 2013. The first was back in 1949-50 and then in 1978-79. They had been members of the second division for 15 years before the war. The club ceased in 2001 and was newly formed as Varda SE in 2003. They were forced to start in the local county second division. They moved up a league in 2007 and again in 2012.

A new period kicked off in January 2014 for the team. They changed their name to Kisvarda Master Good and finished in the top four, three times from 2015. They just failed to overcome Balmazujvaros in season 2016-17. However, one of the main points of getting promoted in season 2017-18 came after 12 weeks and being 6 points ahead of the third placed side. Finally after 35 matches on the 20th May, they achieved their target. Their squad is valued by transfermarkt.de at 6.9 million euros, which is the fourth highest in the NB I. Their side has gone through several changes since the spring with transfers coming in and out.

Arrivals included Sassa, who has joined from a first division side in Portugal. He has made 165 appearances in the Brazilian top division. Keeper Felipe has 69 games in Serie A while another new player is Anderson Pico. Those heading out included Heffler, Lukacs, Delcszeg and former Győr player Strestik and Vermes. Keeper Illes Zoldesi recently joined them from our club, but he has since moved out on loan so he will not feature today. Their squad includes two former Vidi players in Martin Izing and Andras Gosztonyi. This will be the first time that the two will meet in the first division.
