New faces and talented youngsters in the first team squad

Martin Izing and Bence Somodi have moved up to train with the first team squad

Martin Izing: "Reserve team coach, Zoltan Csucsánszky told me that I should go over to Fehervar, on Wednesday morning to join in training with the first team squad. He also added that there was a chance that I would be spending the spring season with them. It is a great honour for me, that I can prepare with the best team in the country, and with the best players and coaching staff. This is a fantastic opportunity for me." - said young Martin Izing, after training yesterday. The youngster turned out for the U19 side over the autumn season, as well as the reserve side. He made a total of 9 appearances for the youth side, and picked up a yellow and two red cards in those games. He went on to playe five second division games with the reserve side, and performed well at the heart of defence when he was called upon. Gabor Hartyani, the manager of the reserve side has praised him several times. "I did well in the second division over the season, and I felt that I managed to show that I can reach the expected level. My form was also good in the youth games, however, as I was twice sent off, I could not play in all of the matches. My aim for the spring is to become a member of the first team squad. If I can continue to do well there over the next year, then it is a realistic aim to break into the first team." Martin also had a spell during his youth development in Belgium, but returned to the Puskas Academy following that stint. "It was very useful for me and I learned that I could twice decide on things. It also showed me that I should make my breakthrough first in the Hungarian league, and only after that can I think of going abroad." - said the young defender.

Bence Somodi joined Vidi last summer on loan from Kazincbarcika. He had been with Ferencvaros from the age of 10, and spent a period with the youth side at Blackburn Rovers, England, during 2005 and 2007. He has also been a member of the U17 and U19 national sides, and has even been part of the U21 squad. He has already made his first division debut, in the colours of DVTK, in their home match with Kaposvar on the 7th November 2009. He was also in goal for the division two, West vs East section friendly game. "It is a big chance for me to train with the first team squad over the pre-season period, and hopefully that is where I can stay. I would like to show the coaching staff that I am worth signing once my loan period is over. I also still hope to get division two games under my belt." said the young keeper. Yet another youngster will be making the step up on Monday, with Akos Elek's brother, Bence training with the first team squad.
